Curious if Bennett gets suspended after the Nurse news just came out. Started throwing punches at McCabe after the game was over, repeatedly punched him while he was down on the ice. By the rulebook that's an automatic 1 game suspension and fine for coach Maurice, without being able to appeal it.

How is that my argument? There is absolutely nothing i said that would even remotely point to that. You were the one to claim Bobrovski played ”unbelieveable” when he literally had to make less saves than in any game thus far outside of the game 3 when he had to make one less, and none of them was him robbing the shooter or something even remotely like that.

He did, even the Panthers fans say that.

Unlike you, I measure a goalies play by the quality of shots and not just total shots.

It doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, the Panthers lost. That said, Bobrovsky was better than Woll who had no quality scoring chances, no breakaways against him, etc.

well, in all fairness, you aren't until you are.

was philly or LA the type of team to pull it off?

i hope we can close it out but the leafs have some pretty good players and they played a good game last night. it's been a close series and i don't think they're going to wilt.

Woll vs. Quick.

Sure...

I don't care about the officiating anymore. It's going to be wildly inconsistent both ways, that's just how it is nowadays.

All you can do is kill of the penalties you get and score on the powerplays you get.
I would prefer they let both teams play 5v5 and decide it on the ice. Rather than the Refs calling penalties. Certainly it would favour the Leafs if the Refs decided to make it a special teams contest. Leafs had 8PPs to Florida's 2 in games 1 and 2, and The Panthers still won both games. So Florida has proven they do not need a special teams contest to win. They were out PP'd in the Boston series too and won. I can understand why Leafs fans want to turn it into a special teams contest and complain of the reffing even to some resorting to threaten Wes Mcauley and his family. If I were Florida, you want them to call it even, and not call the dives and small stuff. Just let them play, it's the playoffs, let the better team win it 5v5 barring the obvious penalties that a Ref has to call.

ideal situation would be something similar to game 2 versus TB

I'm with you, I'll take any win, but I am hoping it goes that like that as well. Blow them out at home, get in their heads a bit and maybe take care of a little business.;)

Sadly, I think the Cats are too good to get blown out.

With the Nurse suspension coming out, Bennett absolutely needs to be held to the same standard. Official rule for game misconduct/suspensions below

Any player or team official who is assessed a Game Misconduct penalty in the last 10 minutes of regular playing time, at any time in overtime, or after the conclusion of the game will automatically be suspended for a minimum of the next regular league/play-off game or seven days.

Sam Bennett was given a misconduct at 20:00 of the 3rd period, will the league get this one right as well and hold him to the same standard as Nurse ? I hope so.

He was given a 10-minute misconduct, not a game misconduct. Know the difference.

2 goals in 6 straight games is just unacceptable at this point.

Atleast we finally won a round this time but I can't picture the Leafs teams of the past few seasons going 6 straight games without scoring more than 2 goals. It seems funny to think about but this team got worse offensively and defensively after the trade deadline.

Should have been a game misconduct, makes no sense that it wasn't. What's the point in giving a 10 minute misconduct when the games over ? Literally serves no purpose lol, everyones leaving the game at that point.

League is basically saying you can deliver dirty hits and punches with intent to injure after you lose a game, with no repercussions. Crazy that there won't be any punishment for him. Now if a Leafs player loses his shit next game like Kadri did, and ends Bennetts season or even worse, he will be labelled as the villain.

The Panthers are going to blow a 3-0 lead.

They have been a streaky team all season. They won 6 in a row these playoffs, with many wins being by the skin of their teeth.

Now they are due for a losing streak.

I don't mean to offend anyone, but the Panthers haven't convinced me yet that they are an elite team.

I don't believe they are an elite team that is going to go into games 5, 6, or 7, and say: "We refuse to allow Toronto to make a fool of us by coming back from 0-3. We are going to finish them".

Combined with all of this is the fact that Toronto's stars are starting to wake up and will be very hard to stop these next 3 games.

I think Toronto wins this series.
The Leafs literally have one win in this whole playoffs that wasn't by the skin of their teeth so I'm not sure what your point is. I do agree that the Leafs can easily come back though. I see this going to Game 6 at the very least.

The Leafs have a better record this series when receiving less PPs than Florida. That's interesting.

Wonder if Bennett will be suspended for his antics after the game was over last night. Fighting a guy and throwing several punches with his gloves still on at a downed opponent after the game is over.

46.22 Fines and Suspensions – Instigator in Final Five Minutes of Regulation Time (or Anytime in Overtime) - A player who is deemed to be the instigator of an altercation in the final five (5) minutes of regulation time or at anytime in overtime (see 46.12), shall be suspended for one game, pending a review of the incident.

When the one-game suspension is imposed, the Coach shall be fined $10,000 – a fine that will double for each subsequent incident.

The suspension shall be served unless, upon review of the incident, the Director of Hockey Operations, at his discretion, deems the incident is not related to the score, previous incidents in the game or prior games, retaliatory in nature, “message sending”, etc. The length of suspension will double for each subsequent offense. This suspension shall be served in addition to any other automatic suspensions a player may incur for an accumulation of three or more instigator penalties.

No team appeals will be permitted either verbally or in writing regarding the assessment of this automatic suspension as all incidents are reviewed by the Director of Hockey Operations as outlined above.

As per the official NHL rules this is quite clearly related to previous incidents in the game and retaliatory in nature and message sending. You can even argue that it is Montour who is the instigator of the altercation here. But Bennett throwing punches repeatedly after the game is surely a violation of this rule ?

Lomberg was suspended last year for instigating a fight in the final 5 minutes of the game vs Tampa.

Hopefully the department of player safety actually takes action for player safety, or we can see some serious injuries in game 5. This has Kadri vs Debrusk vibes all over it, guy runs wild repeatedly, countless dirty plays and hits, league does nothing, player eventually takes matters into his own hands and delivers a filthy hit injuring the player. If there is any sort of retaliation that results in significant injury it will be 100% on the leagues inability to do their job and DOPS in particular.
That’s pretty funny. There was nothing even remotely worthy of even a second of DOPS consideration in that whole scrum on either team. Yet out of what all the pushing, punching, and up close stickwork (I.e. routine scrum) you pick Bennett - and I dislike him too - for special consideration??????? Too funny. I think this sport is maybe too rough for your sensibilities. Me thinks curling might be a better watch for you.:laugh::laugh:

So according to you Bobrovski was unbelievable and saved multiple scoring chances, and Woll did none?

Leafs xGF 2.48 vs. Panthers 2.39

Florida:
low danger shot attempts: 24
medium danger shot attempts: 10
High danger shot attempts: 2

Toronto:
Low danger shot attempts: 23
Medium danger shot attempts: 10
High danger shot attempts: 3

None of that points to either team having that ”quality of shots” that you measure unlike me…

Apparently the statkeeper was watching the same game as i was…

If Bobrovsky is back to normal, this series is over.

So you exclusively speak in hyperbole. Got it.

You're trying to suggest the Panthers played clean hockey for 110 consecutive minutes, that's the kind of response you're going to get

So according to you Bobrovski was unbelievable and saved multiple scoring chances, and Woll did none?

Now if you watched the game tell me what those high danger chances were

The Florida Panthers need to decide which of these two they hope to be remembered by:

(1) The team that defeated the Boston Bruins who had the most wins and most points in NHL history.

(2) The team that blew a 3-0 series lead to the Toronto Maple Leafs.

They won't be remembered for the first one unless they can prevent the second one from happening.
