Sure. We will need him to be better. But we haven't. So now isn't the time to whine. Now is the time to enjoy being 5-0.

I swear we could be 15-0, one game left for the cup, and people would find things to complain about.

If they go the entire run with out Panarin doing much you won't see me mention him at all aside from "hey, they Rangers just went the entire playoffs with out losing a game and Panarin really didn't do anything."

I don't see how wanting him to step up and put forth a dominant performance is complaining either? He had plenty of them in the regular season and its not like he isn't capable.

If he continues exactly like this he'd have a min of 13pts and 10GWG (in 16 games) and that's VERY far from "didn't really do anything..."
But YES, we all want him scoring PPG+...

I feel like getting Chytil in would be a shot in the arm for the team. Looked a little slow by the 3rd last game. Of course, the long layoff plays a factor in that, and i hope we have our sealegs back, but the excitement of Chytil back plus his speed plus the depth of a Goody-Wennberg-Vesey line would be real nice.

Carolina is gonna play this game like a house of fire with kerosene in the attic and TNT in the basement. Gotta be ready.

It's not even about blaming him (even at his worst in these playoffs so far, it's been more invisible than straight up bad) but I'm not really following why there is this outrage when pointing out that he hasn't really been that good? Have we really set the bar this low? He just had the 2nd highest point total in franchise history so I'd say that expectations are (or should be) pretty high.

Trust me, we're going to need him to be better. They wont continue to roll off wins with out him being more of a positive factor. I'd be more willing to lean on the "hey, they've been winning and only played 5 games so theres time" angle if we didn't already know what his track record is (aka, one of the biggest drop offs in production from regular season to playoffs in league history.)

The other top guys have given us at least 1 stand out performance. Don't think it's insane to expect or want one out of Panarin.
Opponents have been keying on the Trocheck line. Ice and matchups have opened up for Zibanejad’s line.

Despite that, Panarin has come up big in big spots, including the series clinching goal in game 4 and the GWG in Game 1 Sunday.

Because it’s just an odd take. The guy has been relentless all year. Of course everyone is trying to shut him down. He scored 120 points. The issue has always been, if that happens, who’s gonna step up?

Panarin’s effort level has been 110% all playoffs. Not sure what you’re expecting

He isn't the only top player in the league to get keyed on. No other top player in the league sees their production drop as drastically as he does.

Also this is no different than the regular season. Do you think teams really played their best defensive players against Zibanejad and the others and just let Panarin waltz his way to a 120 point season? People are dumb, but they aren't THAT dumb.

As far as excuses go, I'm not buying this one at all. He's dealing with what ever other top player in the league deals with and one of his opponents was the f***ing Washington Capitals.

Glad you're not complaining about Panarin. All of your posts seem to tell a different story but you do you. We get it. But Ovi did nothing. Matthews did nothing. Panarin has 3 game winning goals in 5 games.

I'd truly recommend trying to focus energy on positivity. These are the good times.

I wouldn't critique his effort. Some of his decisions have been sub-optimal. I don't want to see him running around stickhandling at the blue line and then giving up rushes against.

But he's been OK.

Matthews was so sick that he had to be pulled from his series and had to miss games. Did you miss his game 2 from the Bruins series before he caught what ever it was that he had? THATS what I'd love to see out of Artemi.

Yeah OV did nothing but he's also 800 years old.

Do we want to look into their playoff track records?

It's possible to be happy with where the team is at and not at all thrilled with the performance of our should be hart candidate, almost set the franchise record in scoring star forward who makes 11.6 million. Again the bar is set so low for this player and it really shouldn't be, especially with his history here.

There’s no excuse. He’s playing great. Not sure why you think I made an excuse

You said he's being keyed on by other teams top defensive players. Agreed, as is the case with every top player ever and this wasn't any different in the regular season. Thats the excuse.

The bolded is an opinion that one has when the bar is set ultra low. Even if you want to take raw production out of the equation, he literally went 8+ periods in the Washington series with out registering a shot on goal. Thats the opposite of great.

Also it's never been a question of effort on his part. If anything, he gets into the habit of trying to do too much.

To me it feels like Panarin has been singled out by the opposition's defense so far these play offs, which has allowed Zibanejad to be more visible and overall more productive. Once Carolina takes notice and focuses on defending Zibanejad more, his and Panarin's roles might very well get reversed. That is the advantage of having two elite forwards on two different lines.

As long as both Mika and Artemi keep on playing with such obvious determination, I am not really worried about either of them. Even though I would also very much like more points from Panarin. Who wouldn't.

I thought he was fine if not good in game 1.

Just want the game where he takes over. We haven’t gotten that from him in the playoffs since game 3 of the Penguins series 2 years ago. Yeah they lost, but that game wouldn't have been in the realm of winnable if not for him.

The overall body of work even through 5 games is just… blah. Certainly not great and I don’t know understand why this is such a controversial take. I mean I have bigger worries than him in this series (Lindgren) but those are worries on players I expect to be bad.
