Have some serious trepidation about this one.

Playoff win streaks aren't entirely uncommon, but the opposition is of such average quality that you just know they won't last forever.

Looking for Igor to have a big game today. I'm still eager to see how he does over a larger sample.

Like everyone has said, Canes going to push hard tonight. Prime game for Igor to steal, win-o-meter 83-17 in favor of canes. Lets go win 2-1!

Still waiting for Panarin to really step up and take over a game.

Build a big lead and then beat up Aho.
Right. We only won the last 5 games and he only had 3 GWG.

Where was Panarin when the Westfold fell? How dare he not pot a hattrick each game when the hour is so dire and Brind'Amours orcs are roaming and pillaging our lands?

I mean if we really want to get down too it, two of those shots had no business being goals at this level.

It's not even getting on him and how he played last game or for pockets of the series before, but he hasn't had that stand out, clearly the best player on the ice game.

Don't think it's much to ask as players who are top players will pull a game like that out every now and then (sometimes more often than that.)

Want to make the case that he's scored timely goals? Sure.

If any of you think that what he's done is satisfactory ya'll are nuts. If Mika can get heat during the regular season for being mediocre to invisible during the regular season while the Rangers are winning, I don't see why Panarin can't receive the same in the playoffs.

Cause we are 5-0? We start losing, go nuts. Blame Panarin. Until then....why?

Panarin has 4 points, 3GWG, in 5 games. Nothing to complain about, especially in the playoffs where shit tightens up, but yeah, I get wanting more after a 1.5PPG season. If teams start keying more on Zibs line, then Pan's line will get more open ice. As long as we are winning, I don't care who is doing the scoring. No one on this team has been a passenger, everyone pulling in the right direction. That's the most important thing.

It's not even about blaming him (even at his worst in these playoffs so far, it's been more invisible than straight up bad) but I'm not really following why there is this outrage when pointing out that he hasn't really been that good? Have we really set the bar this low? He just had the 2nd highest point total in franchise history so I'd say that expectations are (or should be) pretty high.

Trust me, we're going to need him to be better. They wont continue to roll off wins with out him being more of a positive factor. I'd be more willing to lean on the "hey, they've been winning and only played 5 games so theres time" angle if we didn't already know what his track record is (aka, one of the biggest drop offs in production from regular season to playoffs in league history.)

The other top guys have given us at least 1 stand out performance. Don't think it's insane to expect or want one out of Panarin.

Definitely expect this one to look bad on the “win o meter” but the NYR can still win. Need Shesty to be wearing the Broadway hat after the game tonight.
The style the Rangers play, especially with the lead, makes them analytics antichrists. At the end of the day, the only stat that tells me anything worthwhile in the playoffs is the final score. NYR do what they have to to win, and seldom much more. I think its a great strategy for the playoffs. You leave some in the tank for this (I hope) marathon, and when you run the score up out of reach opponents start taking runs and injuries are more likely. I'll take 4-2 or 5-3 games, where we are protecting a lead in the 3rd, all the way to the bank.

Meanwhile, at the New Jersey Devils practice facility:

They will come hard at us . Simple clears and when they attack watch for the drop passes to the late guy jumping in . This is where Kreider needs his legs moving and his head on a swivel as he sometimes is guilty of watching it unfold . Shesty is great....but he still needs some help. If we hold them off for 10 minutes I think we will be OK.......certainly do not want to fall behind and for sure.....we HAVE to stay away from lazy penalties . Go Rangers !!! Big games from Vesey and Gus tonight !

Sure. We will need him to be better. But we haven't. So now isn't the time to whine. Now is the time to enjoy being 5-0.

I swear we could be 15-0, one game left for the cup, and people would find things to complain about.

For all the talk about their vaunted penalty kill, their players just mindlessly charge at the player with the puck. Our PK is also aggressive, but ours is more opportunistic in jamming a guy and taking the puck away. I think by "adjustments" they might dial back the aggressiveness a bit. We made super-quick passes, especially on the first PPG. Yeah, Staal, it was quick passes in succession.
