He’s a 70 point player. In today’s NHL that’s akin to a 60 point guy just a few years ago. He’s a small perimeter player on a team that already has plenty of that element. He’s been a ghost in these playoffs. He’s demanding big money at a time when a different forward who produces more goals and brings more needed elements also needs a contract.

Those are the reasons. It’s not just based on a few playoff games.

Does he “need” to go? Idk…I think it needs to a consideration depending on who you can get to replace him.

Much rather give him a couple hundred thousand more than you think he should get (which he is likely worth) than lose him, blowing a major hole in our depth.
