Should be a fairly tame game tonight. No doubt the league has instructed the officials to make it so. Keep pounding their D like they did on Monday. I noticed last game they were less enthusiastic about holding onto the puck as the game went on. That helps slow down their transition game as well as helping us maintain o-zone possession.
Oh and protect Woll!

Let's go Woll. But more importantly, which version of Matthews are we going to get tonight?

Constantly seeing other team's stars out performing him getting to be tiring. At some point, he just needs to show up. Rielly has the same amount of goals as Auston does from Tampa Series. That just can't be

Let's go big fella, need a big game from you tonight.

There are some other sleepers getting off easily. McMann, how did this guy score 20 goals?
Need more out of Tavares.
The bottom six need to contribute more offensively.

He's had a ton of chances. Not to remove any criticism because he does have to score goals, but I think he's still playing well as a 2-way beast. The shot he missed last game after getting setup by Knies was not a shot he can miss.

Let's hope he explodes offensively... he's bound to at some point?
More games like game 1, and you feel he has to break through here.

Completely agree with his two-way game and the work he's doing along the wall in his own zone - paid to score though, not keep the likes of Shane Pinto and Sasha Barkov quiet. Let's hope we see it

I'm not so sure. Panthers want the split so I expect them to raise their "game" which includes their chirpiness. I also expect Bob to be better than he was in game #1.

We are one classic moment away from Matt Murray playing in an NHL playoff game.

In the year 2025.

Nerves just spiked to 400

The preferred choice over Hildeby...

I would be nervous if he sees action, but he might still be NHL caliber and able to step in and succeed, he is young enough to bounce back from surgery, and he has proven he can be a Cup winning goalie in the past.

Hopefully, he doesn't see the ice though.

The most important game is always the next one. They either go up 2-0 and take control of the series, or they let Florida even it up and take the momentum. Big difference.

I'm expecting big games from the big names. Tavares, Marner, Matthews. Plus I have full confidence in Woll. It's Going to be a fun game!

Agreed. You certainly don't want your 3rd stringer to be thrust into playoff action. But if I had to put a #3 goalie into a game, I can't think of many options better than Matt Murray.

It is a scary thought, but considering the fact that when they showed Hildeby on the bench when Stolarz left the eye, and the terrified look in his eyes, I will take MM over him if push comes to shove. At least he has been there before.

I'd probably shit my pants too

That's every team in the league and for most of NHL history that's been the case
Roy, Hasek if those guys went down, whatever success their teams has had would have never happened

Same right now with McDavid. If Connor goes down, Oilers are an AHL team

Murray also has put up some great numbers in the AHL this year.

Yes, it is the AHL, but he has a .934 this year, it hasn't been this high since 2015.

He seems to be putting in the work to get back to the NHL.

I don't watch much of the Marlies, so not sure how good he has been, but I think this is a pretty good sign that he has recovered well and is putting the effort in.

has he played all year? any significant injuries?

From what I can see, only a minor one, he came back and played better after that too.

Doesn't look like it was significant at all, missed a game.

21 GP
1.72 GAA
.934 SV%

They are playing 3 goalies, but one is standing out there.

He has the best stats in the league.

He can't qb the blueline
Except for the past 2 games, since he took over as QB the Leafs PP has been top 3.

One thing he does well is get shots through. Ideally you have a Bouchard that can fire it through a wall, but the PP has been good for a few months.

It'd be nice if they can acquire dobson in the summer
