Why is everyone all of a sudden acting like it's so completely implausible? Because Bennett was involved? So if it was Tommy Pickles that ran into Stolie it's 100% the puck then?
Stu and Didi raised Thomas to be better than that, plus he was a stay-at-home d-man so it's not a super fair comparison.

Regardless of the opinion of the headshot I am stunned at the amount of long time fans talking about the shot off the helmet. Like we all see that basically every game right? Some goalies take shots off the helmet as part of their warmup routine.

We call that an accident...

Same thing could be said about Bennett's "hit". This kind of contact happens all the time. Why did Storlaz get injuried on what we could almost call a routine play?

Bennett barely touched him, I don't think that's even debatable.

You see, there is such a thing as a freak incident.

Just as an example, Tackles in football happen all the time. But one freak hit managed to stop Hamlin's heart.

You have no idea the exact spot Stollie got hit, and honestly it kind of looked like the chin area to me

It’s the third time he’s hit someone in the side / back of the head with the same result. All described as light hits. Hits in those locations carry significantly greater danger. He isn’t the Hulk.

Yeah definitely just grazed him.

Reimer was concussed by a similar play (albeit not at the same speed but same area/type of contact).

Since Parros took over as head of DOPS in September of 2017, there have been 6 on-ice related suspensions that resulted in missing more than 2 playoff games.

2018
Nazem Kadri - 3 games
Tom WIlson - 3 games
2019
Nazem Kadri - 5 games
2021
Nazem Kadri - 8 games
Mark Scheifele - 3 games
2023
Michael Bunting - 3 games

So that makes half of them handed to Leaf players, with Kadri picking up one additional due to his reputation as a Leaf.

These are the hits that the NHL considers the dirtiest in the past 8 years of Playoff hockey.

I tell you what.

When I think of the worst playoff incident since 2021, gotta be no history Buntings evil deed on those vile Leafs. The fact he wasnt even looking when he ran the interference on Cernak is totally worse than repeat offender Ekblad staring at and throwing a targetted elbow to Hagels face in an obvious revenge move for the Barkov hit. (Bunting had no such motivation to counter his assertion it was an accident) Thats just the last suspension too lol.

In all seriousness, even though its probably loads of fun to rip on the Leafs, this level of obvious corruption has to start embarrassing even the trolls when it comes to the sport we all love. To many fans out there now, DOPS is a laughing stock that stands for "Department of Panther Safety". I'm hearing casuals giggling about it now. Thats not a good look for legacy, to have that asterisk next to it.

Gonna be interesting to see what the league is going to do with the next "questionable" decision. Even some in the Leafs toxic masochistic media is starting to feel they are hard done by in this department and I didnt think anything could make progress there.

Hope for a good clean game tonight.
