People have to hang themselves up on our period-to-period "quality".

The score is really what matters in a period. There was none in this. Lundqvist was fantastic. That's what he's here to do.

I think we'll come out better in the second. A little sharper. The Rangers look like they're trying, but man, Julien is really manhandling Torts right now. I think the Bruins will wear down and the Rangers will pounce.

Well when you see the defensive lapses that plagued the team in Game 2 continue and actually get worse...doesn't lend itself to confidence

Boston's strategy should be to just keep on taking penalties......no way they lose if our Powerplay is always on the ice !!

You're changing the argument.

People that are giving up because we're being outplayed have short memories. 3-2 NJ, '94, down 2-1 in game 6 after 2 periods with Mike Richter playing out of his mind. Not comparing the teams, but some of the same people here who are talking about hoping to go down four goals so they can take a nap aren't my kind of fans. Plain and simple. 0-0 is no place to give up on an important playoff game.

Dude the 1994 team was the best in the NHL. They had arguably the greatest leader in the history of hockey. This team has a leader with a quarter of the skill Messier had and a coach that has proven his stubbornness outweighs his smarts.

On top of that, the 94 team also had Brian Leetch, Glenn Anderson, etc, multiple hall of famers and experienced players. This team is young, lacks a leader and skillset of a Messier and Leetch and hasn't proven anything throughout the season, sans a 7 game, opening round win, that gives us any reason to think they should pull out a series in which they have looked so CLEARLY overmatched.

Now, do i want them to win, **** yea. Do i think they will, probably not. I'm as diehard a fan as they come, but if you've been following the team for a long time, then i'd honestly question your perspective on things if you weren't at least doubtful.

And fyi, most posters weren't alive when the 94 team won. I was 4 years old.

We also have Brad Richards leading our PP, which alone should make any fan doubtful of this teams competence.

There is only so long that it will be 0-0 with the quality shots they are getting versus the crap we are shooting at Rask.

Def not throwing in the towel but that was not a very inspiring Period 1 on home ice.

And with Rask looking like he can't follow the puck (Timmy Thomas MSG lighting issues?) they should be putting the puck on net and driving to the net every chance they get.

Remember we were awful in the 1st period in game 3 against the Caps too. Then in the 2nd period the whole series turned around.

Except, I never said the game is over. Number of shots on goal isn't indicative of anything. Who had more offensive zone pressure? Who had to make more ridiculous saves? Who kept shooting muffins?

And how dare you compare this team to that team. That team played to win and were great on special teams. This team..again, **** knows what they are doing.

Wow. I am not solely speaking TO YOU. And, once again, you're arguing a point that I didn't make. Bruins had the better period but that's no reason to give up.

I can make whatever comparisons I want. I'm sure plenty of people were giving up on that game after 50+ years of frustration and loss. I'm CERTAIN of it.

The Good: It's still 0-0. Man of Steel looks awesome.
The Bad: This team is bad, is playing scared, and have serious confidence issues. They are fighting the puck every time they touch it in all 3 zones. Bruins are so calm and confident. The Rangers scare no one.

That is the problem. Very rarely do they drive to the net. Ridiculously infuriating.

Our forwards don't drive to the net but our defensemen pinch. Doing the opposite of what you should be doing is so much fun! :handclap:

Sure, it's not like I have never witnessed the Rangers start slow and finish better.
They can. They have to. What is the point in pretending they played well in the first period?
They don't have to repeat the first period if they truly do not want to.

Then, why the **** are you quoting me? You're the one who came in here telling people "hey, it's even in shots;" and all I did was say number of shots mean diddly squat in a period where the Bruins clearly dominated.

You're the one who then had that knee jerk reaction thinking I implied the game was over.

Why does Boyle get more Icetime than Zuke and Brassard. And why did Richards get more icetime than Zuke. Imo the best offensive forwards should play big mins. The Bruins will score atleast a goal, so we need to score atleast 2.
