Full scale purge. There needs to be full scale purge of this team. At a front office level and at a roster level. The DNA of this team is deeply flawed and, while there are many people on the team that are fan favorites, it's clear this group isn't going to win with this core and that 2011 was a fluke. Fire Sweeney, fire Neely, fire the scouts, have Bergeron and Krejci go into retirement, weigh up options for Marchand, and start fresh. I know none of this will happen and to suggest anything beyond Sweeney and Neely is blasphemy. That said, this is what needs to happen.

The depressing thing is if this group couldn't even win round 1 this season as the top seed, hard to get motivated to be excited about them going forward. Might have a good regular season next season, but will just choke in the playoffs.

Blow this shit up. The so-called leaders of this team are chokers. Lots of salary could be shed and draft picks could be gained. I'd def work the roster to where I could sign Bert. He was awesome in his first playoffs. Tired of watching the same players blow it come playoff time. As much as I love Monty, he ended up shitting his pants in the playoffs with stupid decisions. Fire him too. f*** regular season success. It's pointless if the Bs are going to keep getting bounced in the first round of the playoffs.
No this team needs changes. Knowing how the old boy network works over there
You’re not wrong.

But NHL playoffs are a roller coaster period with very few exceptions, no matter the team. Even this year, almost every series played had huge swings back and forth. Just how it goes .
I understand but the Bruins have been worse because they are good enough to be good and then the pull the tug from under you.

A lot of players were disappointing in this series.

The Bergeron Krejci era ends with 1 cup and several playoff disappointments. Not really that impressive.

One thing I can almost guarantee, none of the rentals will be here next year. Clifton is gone. Nosek is likely gone. Pasternak's 11 million is going to look terrible when we see the supporting cast around him in the next few years.

It's over, plain and simple.

Just so sad that after that season where it looked like Ullmark was an elite goalie, we had a great coach, and Lindholm/Orlov/McAvoy were the best top 3 in the NHL every single one of the things is now clearly proven false and leaves us with so many questions heading into next year. It's a f***ing mess. We have no picks and no capspace.
It’s because the playoffs are a different beast. The regular season is to the playoffs as what the All Star game is to the regular season. The actual strategy is different for all 3. Time and space disappears in the playoffs. Every turns into like watching a rugby game. Little things constantly matter.

Genuinely the maddest I've ever been at a sports team I root for, I've typed out a paragraph like 3 times and deleted it cause it sound like insane rambling after rereading it. Just a f***ing pathetic effort in OT, couldn't even complete passes. I knew that nothing was guaranteed in the NHL playoffs, but I never expected this team to go out looking scared. And they looked scared of the moment from top to bottom after they went up 3-1. Honestly not sure where the org goes from here, sure seemed like Bergeron was done based on the hugs and stuff, and if that's the case it would be a mistake to try and push to compete another year. It's time to take a step back and retool. Trade older players taht can return real value (Hall, Ullmark, Gryz) and fully turn over the team to the younger core.

He's a great player, but holy crap did McAvoy look like a low level ECHLer tonight.
I've been quietly thinking he isn't the $9.5M man ..great skater, sometimes great hitter, but can't take over a game like he is paid to do

That is your core going forward if you get bertuzzi signed. Everyone else is on short contracts or is old and won’t be with the team. I’d even look into moving Coyle. Everyone else should be moved. 2015 style.

I don’t feel bad for the players at all, they didn’t want it bad enough

But, I do feel bad for everyone in here and all the fans who wear their hearts on their sleeves

You all deserve better

Keep your heads up and remember; it’s just a game of sticks chasing a rubber disc

Way more important things in this life. Way, way more..

You the same guy who was crying the entire game thread about how everyone was wrong about their effort level and really bumming you out?

That kind of entitlement?

Well, I’m pretty sure I was laughing at the notion that they “weren’t trying” and “didn’t care”. They just weren’t as good as Florida this series. They didn’t deserve to win. People refused to accept that another team could be better than them and just thought “Florida sucks, Bruins are just lazy”.

Not sure how that’s entitled. On the other hand, acting like a team is responsible for your mental health. A team which you choose to watch and follow by choice. In a game where one team wins and one team loses. Yeah, that’s stupid. You’re not guaranteed anything watching sports.

Not convinced Don does not make roster trades to recoup picks.
From what Ive seen from DOn he was all in, it failed. SO he will go all in the other direction now.
Guessing one of the goalies is gone. Gryz. Freddy. All would get good picks prob. ASk Marchand if he wasn't to be part of a rebuild, if not, deal him too.

But there is plenty of time for that, I am still in shock
