To me, this game 5 is more than just an elimination game in the 2022 playoffs.

The entire team formation over the course of the rebuild/retool and subsequent beheading of the front office is on notice. Many of the core pieces were brought in during the Gorton era, but Drury has a lot of his fingerprints on this team as well.

Granted - Goodrow, Blais and Motte (and Ill add Lindgren to that list) are key components to what Drury envisioned. But he also brought in Copp, Vatrano, Reaves, Nemeth and Braun, amongst some others. In addition to Gallant who is driving everything.

Point is - if this team lays down (No quit in NY) on home ice, everything comes back into question again (if it hasn't already). The entire season's success pretty much goes for naught.

To me, losing tonight in almost any fashion considering how Games 3+4 went is a massive failure. I didnt expect them to sweep this series, but if it had gone 7 in a tough, tight playoff like defensive effort - you tip your hat to Pitt and try to fill some holes over the summer.

They lose tonight in 5 and inevitably get booed off their own ice at home after the season they've had - how can you justify NOT making wholesale changes to the core of this team?
I agree. But i also believe Copp and Shesterkin are injured. Wouldn't be surprised if Trouba is, as well.

Yeah, honestly that is a bit much.
Youngest team in the playoffs.
Guys built for the playoffs including players they went out and got for their experience are out with injuries.
Panarin, Copp and maybe Fox and Shesterkin playing hurt. Shesty has not seemed the same since being run over.
This post season is a learning experience and not much more. I wouldn’t go putting so much weight on it.

Wasn’t my idea. Lol.

What about that MSG promo spot that shows the faces of Sam, Joe, Vally, Hank and Giannone{?} and Pidto (?) like really, really up close as an air raid siren goes off? That was yours, I bet.

Anyone watching this anywhere in the city? I have a work dinner and if I hop on the train right after I’m going to miss most of the game, so I’m considering just posting up somewhere near Penn to watch.

No but “consume the pizza” was mine. Lol

I told anyone who would listen to me that the rangers could make some noise in the playoffs if Igor played well. Thus far, he hasn't.

I hope he finds his game tonight. Would really suck to lose the series to these a-holes at the Garden.

LET'S GO RANGERS!

A huge need is to stop making it so easy for the Pens to get through the neutral zone. They are going uncontested out of their own zone, through center ice, and then have great chances to dictate play in our zone.

Need to try to stop them before they get in our defensive zone.
That would require the forwards to play any defense whatsoever.

If they dont win this game, they can all donate their May wages to a hospital in New York to make up for the embarrasment that has been the team effort in this series.

Kind of amazing that the most real hockey sense and intuition about the playoffs resides in Chytil. Laf, and Kakko. The core vets seem to be entirely clueless and/or oblivious about the whole thing.

If the core floats around the perimeter again tonight and it's another disaster, I don't see how we can't have serious doubts about the core going forward, particularly given the bubble disaster.
