I think we can replace Kreider. Depends on what the return would be. It's true that the return might diminish based on the clause but you never know. 50 goal scorer with term could be in high demand.

What if Dallas still wants him and is willing to pay Wyatt Johnston plus more?
Kreider would be the most replacable, yes. We don't have another center near Zibanejad's level anywhere on the radar and Panarin, to me, is still untouchable.

My hesitation with Kreider is that of you think we don't shoot enough now (many of you do) then wait until you see this team after we traded a guy that had 412 shot attempts.

Kreider is one of most aggressive volume shooters in the league and pays mortgage on the front of the net. He seems to be great at the things everyone complains about.

He has 2 goals in the series, positive possession numbers, and a very healthy 17 shot attempts. Like Panarin, he's having a normal one.

I think people are looking for elevation in the playoffs. That's not normal. Numbers go down in the playoffs because it's harder.

It's because Crosby is winning the series. That's still not normal. Crosby's totals take a massive hit in the playoffs (12 fewer points per 82 games) and he's particularly good in the playoffs.

Last game was a shitfest. No way around that. But honestly this series could very well be 3-1 NYR and SHOULD be 2-2. We will see what happens tonight but this season has already been a success either way. Until we drew Pitt in the first round I thought a NYR loss was likely. But Crosby stepped it up and here we are. The NYR still could pull this off and I fully expect a good showing, if not a win, tonight.
If Blais, Goodrow, Motte and Lindgren were in the lineup last game would have looked different. And it seems evident to me that Panarin and Copp are playing hurt. Zibs has failed to rise to the occasion, Keider hasn't lived up to his season, but hasn't been awful IMO. Reaves was great the first two games. He brought it big time and the team followed suit physically. He may just be too old to sustain that sort of hitting right now, but if he's dressed he HAS to make a couple of big early hits to set the tone. Otherwise, yeah, he's a cheerleader and isn't necessarily worth dressing.
And please, Lemieux, TDA, Smith and Buch did NOT have more snarl than Hunt, Blais, Goodrow and Reaves. Buch gets sneaky dirty with his stick, that's not snarl. It doesn't do much for the team. Lemmy and TDA were dumb more than tough. Smith was honorable and honest, but NOBODY feared him. Not from a bodycheck nor a fight. No one in that group hit as hard or aften as Reaves or Blais, and the reason Reaves doesn't get challenged after annihilating Malkin isn't because he has a nice smile. HE IS FEARED, no matter how anyone here might want to say he's too nice, there might be 7 guys in the league that won't shit themselves dropping the gloves with him. It's also no coincidence that others, like Trouba took that step physically this year with Reaves around. That's a really flawed narrative

I won't be home tonight but I'm going to avoid results like the plague and watch it on mt DVR. Hope we get another win out of the youngest team in the playoffs!

I don't think anything that's happening says anything catastrophic about our team. I think the main reasons we're down are:

-Shesterkin has been terrible which I literally don't even care about. I don't get out of bed for goaltending over a four game sample.

-A top 5-10 playoff performer off all-time is going absolutely out of his skull and there's nothing you can do about it. That's why they've won three Cups, two when they weren't even playing that great.

-Our third pair is a two-man advantage for the opponent and has been all season. We really did nothing to address it.

-Our fourth line is getting absolutely caved and it's a shift every couple of minutes where our momentum completely dies. It's mostly because of injuries and partly because they're playing Rooney instead of Brodzinski/Hunt and I f***ing told them not to. I'll shout until I'm purple about letting bad players get 10 seconds in playoff games.

-Aforementioned injuries.

I seriously think we are still in this thing. A win tonight on home ice can change everything. This is the same team that easily could have been up 3-0.

We need our Norris and Vezina trophy winners to play like that. Mika, Panarin, Kreider, Trouba, Strome, etc need to do their jobs as well.

Shoot the puck when you can, hit the net, get in sour pork’s face and stay there, stay out of the box, contest every inch of the ice.

And I can’t believe this needs to be said in the playoffs, but please work hard. The whole game. Make your fans proud of you again.

Play like you’re as pissed about what happened Monday as your fans are.

Before this game starts the "Captain committee" should hold a closed door meeting. They should read what Biz said on Spitting Chicklets about them. To be specific he calls them "a bunch of fugazis". Then each player addressed should have to read the NY Post article specifically when he mentions them. Zbad would be up there for a bit.

If that doesn't fire them up before a game I don't know what would.

Hope they come out balls to the wall tonight. Leave it all out there. If they do that, and still lose at least they gave everything they had. If they do go all out tonight, they are going to win this game.

Yes, if you consider Nemeth's own goal

I truly believe a comeback is possible. We are the better team IF/when we decide to show up.

I do not think Pittsburgh is that strong and they have a 3rd string goalie

Seeing Zibanejad and Panarin completely neutralized is a major concern considering their contracts. I didn’t mind losing this year in the playoffs because the kids are still growing and the defensive core is an unfinished work in progress, but seeing our number one center play like complete garbage both here and in the bubble 2 years ago is a huge concern.

I truly think Zib is one of the best players in the league when he’s on but he’s been a no show in the playoffs so far in his career.

They will come out flying for the first ten minutes, score 1 or 2 and then revert back to the soft bullshit and lose. I would generally be way more optimistic that they would find away, like all season, but the last two were just back breaking. Prove me wrong and win

The two things are connected even if they aren't directly. Ive been saying it since the start of the year that we won't be a playoff team until the kids are ready to play prominent roles on this team, it was why i didnt want us trading anything of value away. When Laf, Kakko, Jones, Schneider etc are ready it will be harder to shut down the other members of the team. Right now the game plan vs us is to shut down Panarin and Zib at 5 on 5 and not worry as much about Laf and Kakko. When they are ready it will be harder to shut down everyone.
