What all these Barkov and Matthews bashing hockey geniuses don't realize: Barkov's line has been deployed to shut down Matthews' line, especially on defensive zone face offs. Barkov has been mostly focusing on defense, Matthews has been mostly shut down. Explains a bit why both have been quieter offensively.

Neither have been at their best for sure, but there's more to it than "Barkov sucks, Matthews sucks".
