I mean, what kind of message is this sending to the team? This hasn't been Vanecek's fault at all. Mixing up the lines, again. Changing the goalies. Screams that the coach isn't confident in the team and I doubt that's lost on the players.

Bad, bad coaching.

The devils can mix lines all they want. they're not competing at the same level for the puck as the Rangers are and with them all being 160lbs I doubt that will change if the Rangers just keep the foot on the gas.

LGR.

Totally shit talked a devs fan in full regalia on 7th Ave/55th.

Ruff changing his goalie is a smart move. There is no downside, the Devils need to score goals, so unless they do, who cares what their goalie does. But what if the MSG fairy blesses him like so many random goalies have in the past? Either this dude lets in 1 or 8, no in between.

This needs to be the playoff game we’ve waited a very, very long time for. Go up 3-0 in an early series and try to end it quick.

MSG will be an absolute zoo. Keep these kids shook, especially the kid goalie. Test him early and often. Pressure is going to be IMMENSE on the entire team, especially Schmid.

Make a statement tonight. This is the game to rip their f***ing heart out. Do it with extreme prejudice.

Lets GO
100%.

Devils are on the mat. Players were dejected, coach is flailing and defeated making panic moves. You need to come out and go for the jugular tonight. Score early, don’t let Schmid feel any easy pucks. Feed off the crowd. Don’t let the devils get back up.

Need to come out and put their foots on their throats. Don’t let them get any confidence, don’t let them feel good about anything. Pick up right where you left off and play like it’s an elimination game, not a series lead. Prove you’re for real, going up 3-0 would be really encouraging that this team is serious.

The stereotype of NYR failing against 3rd string goalies was, I think, in some ways more about how our teams back in the early 2010's had difficulty scoring goals against teams that were committed to playing a solid defensive scheme.

Teams playing guys like Mike Brodeur take fewer risks, commit to forcing chances to the outside, because they know it's a weakness.

This team has much more of an ability to break down solid defensive schemes. Our lines are tremendous once in the offensive zone. The only way to stop us is to forecheck hard, since our puck movement out of the back is our key weakness.

Any team can get stone walled by a hot or lucky goalie, not saying it's a "Rongo" thing. But even recently this year, rookie or low experience goalies play the game(s) of their lives at MSG.

We struggled against 2nd/3rd strings last playoff too.

Someone on the Devils board said that Luke Hughes's ceiling is potentially higher than Adam Fox. Absolutely hilarious.
What a joke. Even if it was whats the chance he reaches that? And then they have a 9.5 million dollar waste in Hamilton if he gets taken off PP1

I've seen every teams fans complain about how they make rookie goalies look like Hasek. I've also seen every football team's fans whine about making rookie QBs look like Montana. Its not just us

Yeah the only one of those things that is actually true is that former Rangers score more against us than other teams get scored on by their former players. That one I saw a post about where we were at the top.

Yea but hopefully they have turned a leaf. Win tonight and I think we sweep, lose and its going to go 7

“Experience didn’t give them a 2-0 lead,” (Jack) Hughes said. “This has nothing to do with experience. This is them playing better than us. They’ve been playing some very good hockey and we haven’t been playing very well. It comes down we’ve got to pick our game up and play better.”

While it's nice that he's giving the Rangers credit he HAS to think like that because otherwise they're done. We'll have the experience advantage all series.
