Before Game 1, Brady Tkachuk had played 2 periods of hockey in the month of April. He couldn't even finish the last game of the regular season.

He's playing hurt.

Ottawa has other players, which may be news to our national media.

Brady is for sure hurt

5-2 Toronto with the empty net goal

Leafs go up 2-0

It's easy to "hate" Brady because he plays for a loathed provincial rival, but he's the straw that stirs that team's drink and is an impact player in so many ways. He's obviously not 100%.

I think the whole "he's a tank and is going to run through the Leafs" things is so overblown, but let's not kid ourselves. Leaf fans would love this guy in blue and white.

Then again, f*** him. f*** Ridly Greig. f*** Chris Neil. f*** Daniel Alfredsson.

Hate to break it to the Sens fans but Brady ain’t the difference between an easy win and a close one. Brady is overrated and the rest of the team is hot garbage.
Huh ? They nearly had as many pts as Florida …inexperienced sure , but they have the team to give the Leafs a run. Ultimately I think Leafs win a long series but I feel the lopsided game is out of the way

We leave Spezza off the list now

Found it odd that Ottawa played Sanderson/Chabot 26+ minutes in a 6-2 game. If I'm the Leafs, I keep pounding them and wearing them down.

Leafs spread out their Dcore much more during Game 1, saving some abuse.
Leafs basically mailed it in for all of their top guys last game except Marner/Knies. Very efficient ice-time given the score was what it was

Matthews only played 18:42, Nylander 17:43, the entire d-core played 17-20 minutes

Oh I think I'd rather wait and see how he performs in a few playoff series before making such a statement.

As all Leafs fans know, some guys just can't get it done when it counts. I'd bet he's not one of them - my only real concern is how immature he seems and that he's definitely a spotlight seeker (the more polite term) - but we'll likely know soon enough.

Me too, but what would we do about all the penalties the sens would be committing? Just keep removing sens players from the game but never going down a man?

The premise doesn’t really make any sense

Typically the sens draw more penalties than the Leafs.

Game 1 was one sided officiating in favour of the Leafs.

If the officiating goes back to normal/average, the sens should get more powerplays than the Leafs.

Sens drew 349 penalties and took 308 penalties...+41 for the year.

Leafs drew 268 penalties and took 285 penalties... -17 for the year.

So every 2 games, Ottawa goes up +1...and every 4 games Leafs go -1.

So over 7 games, Ottawa should be up 3.5PPs and Toronto should be down almost -2 PPS.

So if the series averages out, Ottawa already being down -4 means Ottawa should have atleast 8-9 more powerplays than Toronto the rest of the way...

Unless of course officiating favours the Leafs again.

Considering Ottawa had more chances and more high danger chances 5 on 5, if Ottawa gets most of the powerplays going forward, it could be difficult for Toronto.

It wasn't "1 sided officiating" 1 side took multiple stupid penalties, officiating was fine. Sens went completely out of control, it was their lack of playoff experience. They were running wild, thinking that's what playoff hockey is.

They need to be more disciplined and not run guys from behind or cross check guys in the face.

It wouldn't be "one sided" had it been the other way around, believe me.

Blows my mind how they won't hold their players accountable for undisciplined play but try and play it off as bad officiating lol. Batherson especially needs to smarten up, he's one of their better players and took multiple stupid frustration penalties.

It was one sided in that they called the sens penalties but not the Leafs penalties.

Also, I quite clearly just said "if things go back to average, Ottawa should get a lot more PPS than Toronto the rest of the way"

The leafs kept giving cross checks to Sanderson and Chabot all game and didn't get called. They would go on the forecheck but not be able to catch Chabot or Sanderson who was pealing away from their hits, so they would reach to make contract with a crosscheck.

Ridley Greig gets tripped...no call.

Stutzle carries the puck and gets wacked in the hands...no call.

I'm not saying the sens didn't commit infractions...it's that they are weak and not typically called in the playoffs, and when the Leafs did the same thing, weren't called.

That's one sided officiating.

But either way, that isn't the point. The point is, if things revert back to average. Sens get 8 or 9 more powerplays than the Leafs the rest of the way. Watch out if that happens if reffing goes back to normal, and not one sided like game one.
