Si.
We rented a car and spent a few days in La Fortuna (hiking around Arenal Volcano, swimming at a waterfall), then drove to Manuel Antonio on the west coast for a few days, saw lots of amazing wildlife (5-6 sloths, monkeys, iguanas, Coatimundi, parrots, dolphins, rays, etc), and then finished up in Tamarindo, a cool beach town.
Beautiful country. If you like nature and seeing wildlife, great beaches, easy lifestyle, it's a great place. People are very friendly. Many of the service industry people we interacted with spoke English, some very well, some enough to be understood. I tried my limited Spanish where I could.
Seems a lot of people go back after they've been there. So that tells you something. I'd return again for sure. We even talked about maybe taking a month and working remotely there, as some people do. Lot of airbnbs promote that aspect, having dedicated work spaces and fast internet, etc.
