Staal turns the puck over a lot himself. I still remember that turnover to the Islanders in that one game we blew a 2-0 lead in.

Rangers weathered the storm early and then got their forecheck going and took over the game.

McDonagh can't step it up in that position, Ovechkin is too dangerous. Especially that late in the period — play it safe, dude.

Worst part of that penalty is that it carries over and can hurt our momentum to start the 2nd. The more worse part is if they score on it.

Not because we have the lead, but because of the way the game is going, we have the upper-hand now. Caps gave everything in the first 10, we score a goal after a good sequence including a solid PP and getting the icing call. Rangers should have more energy left in the final 40.

That pretty tic tac toe offense works well in the regular season but in the PO's when the lanes get clog you have to adapt. Hoping it takes them awhile to realize that.

Most of that period was embarrassing to say the least. Looked completely outclassed. We play like this and we get swept. The team is making me look bad for believing in them, I don't care what the score is.

The frustrating thing about it. The caps didn't play all that great defensively. The Rangers were just constantly flubbing plays on the transition. Nor were they doing much of anything on their forecheck(except for the 4th line).

Rangers won't win the series if they are going to just go into a defensive shell. Rangers got to play in the caps end. They got to be relentless on the puck in the Ozone.

But one-on-one against Ovechkin, I trust Staal over McD. He's shut him down in the past and generally does a good job of standing him up at the blueline.

Ovechkin goes for the hit Girardi takes it and we clear the zone. Guy focuses on the wrong things.

He was trying to cut off the clear. IMO, that's what you should sorta do, but he needs to use his stick on that play to intercept puck instead of looking full on contact.

Was a hook - called holding. Period was atrocious. Everyone terrible except lundqvist pretty much. Glad we're out of it with the lead
