Preview: Panthers Look to Crush Canes (Literally)​

The Florida Panthers took Game 1 in dominant fashion, thanks in no small part to Sam Bennett’s world-famous elbow, which continues to strike fear into the hearts of opponents league-wide. As the series shifts to Raleigh, the Hurricanes must find an answer for Bennett’s elbow of doom—or risk getting steamrolled again.

Meanwhile, Carolina’s top line needs to wake up, because Sebastian Aho and Andrei Svechnikov were about as noticeable as a ref’s good call in Game 1. If Rod Brind’Amour doesn’t rally the troops, this could get ugly fast.

Key Storylines​

Sam Bennett’s Elbow: The undisputed MVP of the playoffs. Whether it’s accidental, incidental, or just plain "hockey play", Bennett’s elbow has more highlight reels than Connor McDavid this postseason. Can the Canes survive another round of "Bennett’s Blessings"?

Bobrovsky vs. Anderssen: Sergei Bobrovsky stood on his head in Game 1, while the other guy looked shaky. If the Panthers keep pouring it on, this could turn into a goaltending mismatch.

Hurricanes’ Physical Response: After getting bullied in Game 1, will Carolina push back? Or will they just whine to the refs about Bennett's Giant Elbow?

tbf Canes are in the middle of a retool, just happen to get the november cup champion devils and the washington commanders before running into us

I agreed before round 1 like obviously they're going to beat the Devils who were mid and their whole lineup was dead but then when they beat Washington it had me concerned because Washington had a great season, and the series wasnt even close.

Lost in this is that Ekblad is 1 point away from tying his career high points in a postseason.. in 11 less games.

And despite missing 3 games, he's one of the most productive defenseman this postseason. 6th in points and PPG.

If he keeps this up, I'm gonna need @Jean Luc Discard to put some respect on this man's name.

Yeah, Ekky's been putting up points and overall he's been playing good hockey. According to the stats now that his minutes have been reduced from ~25mins to ~22mins he's been able to produce more points. He's been playing better hockey now that he's not the #1 or #2 dman anymore.
