Series Talk: ECFs Discussion - Return of the Jerks! - Panthers Lead 1-0

This is really the twilight zone right now.. Fat Pat is on our bandwagon and he predicts the Panthers to go back to the scf. He likes how we play and says it's comparable to how the Bolts played at their height.

He was also on McAfee before the Leafs series and predicted us to win.

I think Fat Pat wants in, stranger things have happened, I am looking at you Marchand.

I think that the most impressive thing with this team right now is their defense compared to what we've seen in the past. In the Prez trophy winning season the Panthers had enough firepower to expect goal scoring contribution from each four lines but this defense is something else.

Jones and Mikkola are clearly having a blast with how they can take chances to support the forwards in their attacks. Ekblad actually looks good, he's getting points at a pace one would expect from a 7.5mil dman, and I don't mind at all his forearm work during these playoffs. This time around Forsling can take a breather and he doesn't have to be involved in every freaking situation to bail out Ekblad or some other fringe dman. Schmidt and Kulikov continue to be a very reliable bottom pairing.

Now I know that this is very early and the Panthers might not win the Cup this season but I think that this d-core is exceptionally good. Even the 2013/2015 Hawks and the 2012/2014 Kings had passengers in their defense but not this one.

Plus we have Balinskis as an extra who was rocksolid lately when he played and contributed offensively. Megna also did not look out of place at all in the few games he got with us. If one of Schmidt or Kuli went down, I would not be worried about their replacement.

I remember reading that excerpt from Marchand by the Players Tribune and it reminds me of the book playing to win by sirlin. The refs have determine the allowance, to not play right up to it and creating self imposed barrier is just scrub mentality, and just shows how the panthers locker room is filled with dawgs.

I replayed the hit on Bob a number of times and then the hit on Stoli, I think if anything Bob’s head snapped harder than Stoli’s. That’s why I’m still thinking Stoli was subject to a double whammy, slapper and Benny contact.
Yeah, and Stolie can never admit that Rhino shot rocked him a bit without opening up questions about why he wasn’t checked out afterwards

Goal 1 shouldnt have happened. Bad call by Ref
Goal 2 doesnt happen. Jordan Staal doesnt do that so that is erased
Goal 3 Guys were tired so it was an accidental change. Doesnt happen
Goal 4 Puck over glass isn't a legit penalty! Doesnt count
Goal 5 - Fair goal. But Eetu isnt a known finisher so 50/50

Rod say's the correct final score is 2-0.5 Carolina and is petitioning it currently

I don't believe Stolie's story. I've looked for video of him and Benny in handshake line but found nothing. I've lost respect for him; for now anyway.
He CAN NOT admit to the Reino shot being the instigator of his difficulties, it implies culpability.

The Canes mgmt will usher Rod into therapy after game3.

I will say, Carolina did come out banging bodies. They laid a couple more hits than us. But from memory, they had some pretty big ones.
Hope our boys can keep it up and no big injuries. Don't want to reach the final, if we make it, in the same condition we did against Vegas.
Pretty much every game is going to be wild. Carolina is going to be rabid next game, if they lose they're cooked and frustration will be boiling for a myriad of reasons. They'd be 0-14 in ECF. That would be brutal and things can get out of hand 100%.

We have the composure, and the boys know how to punish them as well without going overboard.
The Marchy incident was warranted. Love that rat.

Keep at it boys! We got this! We love winning!
