Pre-Game Talk: ECF Series Talk: Rat Bastards versus Boring Jerks

How do we wrap Freddie in bubble wrap this series without him losing any mobility? If they run Freddie, we must run Bob.
Bubble wrap? Dude is gonna need for splint / plate and a force field.

Prediction - they run him no later than game 2, probably game one first chance they get and he will be out for the series, NHL does nothing. It's coming and we all know it.

This series needs an over under on injuries more than it does goals. Filthiest team in the league and here it comes.

(Also worth noting: Jalen Chatfield is the only player on the entire roster who meaningfully spent any time in the AHL for this franchise. The non-NHL talent development of this team is almost entirely outsourced.)
Dundon so.....shrewd?

But really, that statement is only a function of this unique snapshot in time. They have had very recently both Necas and Drury who spend gobs of time in the AHL. And PK had meaningful development at the AHL level. And most of the guys we've let go that are performing very well on other teams spend a good amount of time in our AHL system (Roy, Lorentz, McLovin, etc.).

Also, lobbing random shit at bob with no net front isnt going to work here, nor are the odd / band angle stuff we scored on Thompson. Not happening.

You'll have to beat bob on a snipe or traffic. Our PP HAS to be leathal and make them pay for every intent to injure. Because it's the only way to make them back of the risk of the way they play. If Our PP can't connect at at least say 35% here, they will still run the risk of the charging, slashing, interference, head contact, and running attempts at Andersen.

Better get that in the boys heads. These dudes ARE going to run our goalie.

I shall predict a big series for Jordan Martinook. The reason for my prediction is that I love the guy and I'm biased. As for the information I took into consideration to make this prediction, my source is that I made it up.
I expect a big series for all the Jordans again.

Jordan Martinook
Jordan Staal
Jorddan Slavin
Jordrik Andersen
Jondrei Svechnikov
Jordth Jarvis
Jordastian Aho
And Stanky

In contrast the panthers don't have any Jordans.

Either way We all know it's going to happen.

Also while we are scoring more our D is way less this time out. Pesce is gone. Skjei is gone. Burns is 2 years older. Chats is better.

IDK, the panthers are scoring a LOT of goals and our D tends to collapse sometimes. I feel like maybe we would have beaten toronto. Bob is not gonna be letting in trash from bad angles or softies.

I agree with the phenomenon you're describing but cannot agree that we couldn't utilize Forsling or that he wouldn't be part of that very best fraction. Maybe you just call it a process that's working and an unfortunate outcome, fine. But seeing a bonafide 1D on another team that you gave away for free is always tough. Even tougher when he's the 1D for a team that's won a Cup and swept you the year before.
They absolutely could use today's Forsling.

The issue was Forsling in 2020 had shown little with the Blackhawks, was a throw-in in a trade to Carolina, and had a solid season in Charlotte. The Canes 2021 defensemen:

Slavin-Hamilton
Skjei-Pesce
Gardiner-Fleury/Bean
(Fleury was traded for Hakanpaa added at the deadline.)

Forsling had not shown anything to push himself over Fleury or Bean at that point, which is shocking given what he has developed into. Gardiner was in his second season in Carolina when he got hurt and was done. Keeping Forsling then would have been great, but they had not seen that much from him in 2020 to push keeping him on the roster in the fall of 21. They tried to slide him to Chicago and Florida pounced.

And even if Carolina keeps Forsling and he starts to show promise in 2020-2021, could Carolina keep him? Or does Forsling end up being picked by Seattle over Morgan Geekie?

Edit: Florida protected Forsling after he put up 17 points in 43 games in 2020-21. Carolina protected Slavin, Pesce, and Skjei. Forsling could never be protected in Carolina; he was protected in Florida so we can't say Seattle passed on him to draft Driedger in 2021.

Let’s not also forget that every single game against the Panthers in 2023 was a 1 goal loss, including (2) OT games. We were pretty evenly matched, tho the series outcome didn’t reflect that.

Also games 3 & 4 if I remember correctly we dominated play & outshot them by a large margin. That series Bob was just unbelievable, Tkachuk was just insanely clutch (2 OT goals & the game winner with 5 seconds left in game 4), puck luck didn’t go our way that series at all. Could have easily been a different series if the hockey gods treated us a little nicer.

This is going to be a close series. I’d be shocked if we get swept again.

Too heavy. Enchanted mithril chain mail under the pads is probably the way to go here.

There's a special magic armor set mentioned in the 3.5 edition Dungeon Master's Guide called celestial armor. It's mithril chain mail that's so fine and light that it can be worn underneath regular clothing (or in this context, hockey gear) without impeding movement very much. Comes with a +3 enhancement bonus, weighs a mere twenty pounds, a maximum dexterity bonus of +8, an armor check penalty of -2, and an arcane spell failure chance of 15%. It also allows the wearer to fly on command once per day.

This set of armor seems perfect for Frederik Andersen to wear.

Freddie pitches a shutout, then takes off through the roof of Lenovo for a storm surge

If we were allowed to equip Freddy with celestial armor, I'm sure the refs would find a way to constantly call us for a bag of holding penalty all game long.

Maybe it's the memories from the past playoffs and the November spankings but the mental toughness is what concerns me the most. I think FL is very good at triggering teams and making them lose their way when they choose to pounce. The addition of Marchand only adds to that aspect.

You know he will only level up his strength and constitution stats in the gym. Rod's stats are probably something like:

Strength: 19
Intelligence: 11
Dexterity: 10
Wisdom: 9
Constitution: 20
Charisma: 11

Looks about right for him. However, your nonstandard ordering of the stats is irksome. But don't mind me, I'm just silly and pedantic like that. The standard order is strength, dexterity, constitution, intelligence, wisdom, and charisma. :P
