Makes a lot of sense....2 big moves 1rw and Rempire nation...we need scoring and emotion these lineup changes accomplish that

Yeah and I don’t want these changes happening when we are down 0-2. It then becomes panic mode. Tweaks can be made but at least there is still time if it goes wrong and can go back to the original line up.

If Kreider didn’t go full Messier mode we could have been playing a Game 7 or worse , golfing now.

Need to make these adjustments that have been stale since the Caps series.

@Profet @Do you want ants His closing speed is definitely a concern but it would be confusing if that’s the coaching staffs reasoning given that they’re using Wennberg there who has awful PK metrics and is also extremely slow
Wennberg’s metrics were bad on Seattle who had average/below average goal tending. I also think Kakko processes the game slowly and is slower than Wennberg by good margin. I’d like to believe they’ve tried him at in practice and just didn’t like what they saw. Either way I would have sat Vesey first. I’m not overly concerned about benching the 3rd PK forward group member.

I'll be surprised if the changes to the forward lines really do that much. The D is really what needs to change. When you have 3/6 guys handling the puck like a grenade, a true difference would be made moving Jones into the lineup and any one of those three out.

How is Panarin's career on the line? He had the second best season in Rangers history. He's not going anywhere.
Total no-show last game total no-show versus Carolina in the crunch Chris Kreider saved him.

Right now, he’s dak Prescott on skates - MVP regular season - turns to hot poo in the postseason.

There's gotta be something coaches are seeing that we're not seeing about Kakko, even though publicly they give a canned answer about great metrics but would like concrete production.

I don't think it's complicated.

He is the lone cycle/possession player on a rush-one-and-done oriented team. His skating is a (*the*) big issue preventing him from joining the rush and hitting players with force on the fore check. If he skated and hit like Cuylle there would be no problem. He needs a C he can play off + D that can hold the offensive blue line and get pucks on net, neither of which is a team strength for the Rangers. Laffy makes a shitload of mistakes but he is fine in the eyes of the coaches because he goes up and down the ice. Kakko doesn't, he wants to minimize mistakes and keep possession, but that's pointless on a team that doesn't value that.

I've said it before, Kakko would be a much better fit on the Panthers team than he is on the Rangers. It will be interesting to see where he ends up this summer.

The shot/chance metrics are independent of the goaltending, although not always that reliable when it comes to special teams. Regardless, wennberg is slow as hell and they still use him there

I think he processes the play and anticipates better. He’s also a center and can take FOs. That part of the reason he’s in over Kakko. Either way, Vesey should be the one sitting first.
