Is there some stat or something that triggers the: "Does not want to move to a team in north america" Line?
Don't know, but it did happen in my long running SC Bern save (I am currently in the 2045/2046) using 21/22 rosters. Dominik Kahun rejected Colorado offer in 2025/2026 season. Here is the pic

Question for anyone really:

Is there some stat or something that triggers the: "Does not want to move to a team in north america" Line?

I'm thinking about starting a save over in Europe and I want to see how far 1 superstar player, and a mega-rich owner, can take a super low team... but I don't want the player to ditch for NA the second he is drafted.

Also along with this, has anyone asked about (or tried) fleshing out the Sweden lower leagues? Like Tvaan, Trean and Fyran?

Are all the Swedish leagues properly linked? Like, even if they aren't playable, if I plop McDavid, Makar and Shesterkin onto Black Wings HC in HockeyFyran, would they promote from Fyran to Trean, Trean to Tvaan, Tvaan to Ettan, Ettan to Allsvenskan, and then to SHL?
Adaptability and loyalty. The furthest they are linked is from Ettan to Tvaan, I might make Tvaan playable at some point but the league structure is wild. Also promotion/relegation is broken in the game, it's what leads to crashing and stats being wiped out I'm hesitant adding more of it into the DB until the game is fixed. I hope to hammer Riz on this when FM23 is released.

If this gets solved in 2023 I am for sure absolutely going to build an NA-Relegation system database.

To add to the weirdness in my first save, Michkov apparently signed with the Charlottetown Islanders for his +1 season...I didn't even know that was possible when he was under contract in the KHL for so long

I hope he absolutely torches the league, if he doesn't get brought up immediately

Low Adaptability, high loyalty, and low ambition.

Not 100% guaranteed, but keeps some players in Europe/non-NA leagues.

Also, unrealistic, but make max contracts in the league higher than NHL league minimum. For younger players, I've found in some cases (if the player has the above attributes), an 18-20 yo drafted player making 1.5 million+ in a non-NA league, might not jump to the NHL as NHL max rookie contracts are 925k. I've found the sweet spot is around 1.125M for there to be variety of players jumping or not.

There may be some reputation settings to tweak.

The next part is hit or miss, but when they hit their prime ages 26-34, SOME players will come over in May when they are free agents, signing to NHL league minimums for a season, then signing a regular NHL contract.

As Eck said above, there is also a point where players, once they head back to Europe want to stay. Last season Pivot, example. Free agent Tuukka Rask would refused to sign a North American contract; even though he did (albeit for a month).

A non-realistic example, for GUH, I've had elite players CA/PA > 180, never come to the NHL But it 100% requires their mental attributes to meet the above requirement. I made GUH rookie max to be 1.125M a year. And able to sign their first non-entry level contract by age 20; so if you don't sign them by age 20, they could sign a multimillion dollar contract by then, and they won't jump.

I set the KHL too high in my original 00 build and Kovy kept getting 2 mil extensions before the draft and would just spend his career in Russia. Was frustrating from a "not like this!" perspective, but super interesting to see.

ok some more questions about European leagues...

I'm trying to get a game going where I take over a team in HockeyEttan, and build up from "nothing" to be Le Mat Trophy dynasty.

However, I thought it would be neat to bring a team from outside Sweden to do it.

So I created the Quebec Nordiques, set their reputation in line with some SHL/Allsvenskan teams, created a chairman, a managing director, a director of personnel, a president, and a GM, all with super high reputation, all with the ability to "increase club revenue," put them in HockeyTvaan to test how everything works, and the following happened:

Season 1:

the team hired a full complement of staff to multi-year deals, including Sheldon Brookbank and Jay Pandolfo as scouts.

we signed a fairly good lineup for year 1:

Alex Galchenyuk - Boo Nieves - Alex Chiasson
Brandon Pirri - Kole Sherwood - Tyler Pitlick
Kevin Roy - Jay Beagle - Eric Fehr

Danny Dekeyser - Jason Demers
Ben Harpur - Jordan Subban
Cody Franson - Johnny Lambos

Braden Holtby
Ryan Ferland

needless to say, they crushed SWE-4 and promoted to Ettan.

Year 2 was even wilder (I assume cause their was a bigger FA class, and we were in a higher league)

They retained all their staff, and signed a boatload of higher calibre, but still lower end NHL quality talent:

Trevor Moore, Chris Tierney, Mark Jankowski, Gavin Bayreuther, Adam Clendening, Josh Leivo, Phil Di Giuseppe, Charles Hudon, Brady Keeper, Gemel Smith, and even a couple of B level NHL draft picks in Ryan Ufko (NSH 2021 4th round) and Dylan Peterson (STL 2020 3rd round)

the result was obvious again, we finished 1st in hockeyEttan, and promoted to Allsvenskan for 2024.

for the 2024 season we snagged Jordan Nolan, Cedric Paquette, Kenny Agostino, Josh Ho-Sang and Cody Eakin, once again raising the quality of talent that was signed.

2025 we, again unsurprisingly, won Allsvenskan and promoted to tier 1 SHL, the big leagues!

in 2025, leading up to the SHL season, we, again! raised the quality of our signings a bit. We picked up Derek Forbort, Dylan Demelo and Drake Caggiula.

however, something strange happened throughout all this, and it lead to the save becoming completely broken (for Quebec) for the 2026/27 season.

Although all my created staff is still with the team, our other staff all left after we won Allsvenskan in 2025... and were not replaced... in fact, June 17th 2025, they signed their last contract, for Louie Belpedio... I am currently in September of 2026, and Quebec's SHL season has started with only 12 players on the roster, no coaching staff, no scouts, we never did sign any physio team either.

Our team went from winning everything in Sweden, getting promoted to the SHL, then just... never making another signing... They won the regular season in 25/26, and lost in the semi-finals to Leksands... but now they are doomed to just, lose all their players, and demote out of the SHL, and likely completely out of Sweden over the next couple of years.

are their some settings I missed when I created the team? I even made affiliates for them for j-18R and j-20R, but since I forgot to put any staff on those teams they didn't sign any players.

what did I miss?

Yea, I found if they get those extensions too early, they don't come over. I like having the rookie contracts end around age 19 or 20; which gives NHL teams a bit more urgency to sign a prospect.

What database did you start with to edit?

Can't say for sure, as you weren't demoted until post 2026. There's definitely some wonkiness with teams being re-classified as Pro or Semi-Pro when changing leagues.

Pre-demotion, can you check the Team Status on Team > Info section?

If you have EHMAssistant, it would be worth checking to see what the Team's reputation and info is. Outside of editing the DB; did you make any other modifications when playing through?

Since Quebec wouldn't count as Swedish, wondering if you added any other settings in the transfer settings or left it as is?

I'll check on the reputation later, but I started with the most recent pivot update.

I'm pushing forward with the save to see if anything else changes, and it did, but only a little bit...

somehow, some way, the team avoided relegation in 2027 with only 12 players... and 10 of those players either had contracts expire, or signed with NHL teams... so I was left with 2. However the GM did make 8 signings before the 27/28 season.

Notable names being:

Michael La Starza
Nick Blankenburg
Maxime Lajoie

So we have 7 skaters and a goalie for the 27/28 season. I really don't think a team with that few players will be able to avoid relegation.

OK so few things I can clear up as well...

I lifted financial restrictions for the SHL, and I had set the reputation at 10000, making Quebec the highest rep team in the game lol...

WAIT! Apparently I didn't remove all the restrictions on finances... there is still the max wage of 250k, and a min wage of 60k... So I think I have it figured out!

Players and staff who are good enough to meet the teams reputation, don't want to get paid 250k a year, and players who are willing to accept 60k a year aren't good enough reputation to meet the teams demand.

IDK how, but the SHL rules in the game state that those are the upper and lower limits per player, but none of our players are signed to contracts above 7.2k... I must have messed something up in the financial section.

I believe there's a bug where a team stop signing staff/players. The fix was to add a human GM and then retire him, which should restart the team.

League rep will also limit what the max salaries can be. I’ve been having issues trying to get SHL contracts over 250k, might be some hard code game f***ery going on

Ok so I seem to have fixed it for every team *except* Quebec lol.

their are currently (2033, I simmed a decade overnight) over 70 players currently in the SHL making more than 250k, however, the Nordiques still only sign players slightly above 30k, I added a human GM to see if maybe it was just the computer playing like a scrooge mcduck, and... sorta? My board will only allow me to sign contracts up to 60k, even for star players.

When I add the GM it says my player budget it 70M, which is kinda nutty considering I set the player budget in the editor at 1B. (lol)

Also the league/ my team is signing some higher calibre older players... Quebec currently has:

Logan Stanley, Casey Mittelstadt, Matthew Savoie and Drake Batherson.

William Karlsson, Joachim Blichfeld, Markus Vidicek and Jonathan Lekkerimaki have all joined the league at certain points.

Man, almost 10 years since Early Access and I'm still seeing things I've never noticed before.

I have a young developing goalie on a stacked (3 time cup champ core of 7 forwards and 5 defensemen) championship calibre roster...

He overtook as our starter at 20 (I did a thing where I ran rentals on my first 2 cup wins, Demko on the first for 12M for 1 year, and Adin Hill on the second)

His first 2 seasons weren't anything special, although he won a lot because of our stacked roster.

Rookie season:
30-8-3 2.85 .908 1 shutout

Rookie playoffs:
13-9-0 3.03 .899

Sophomore season:
36-14-5 2.80 .907 0 shutouts

Sophomore playoffs:
16-5-0 2.69 .903

so, obviously we won the cup in his sophomore season, now the interesting part.

unfortunately I have saved over this time period, so I have no way of verifying that this indeed happened, but it did, and I'd never seen it before.

Going into his 1st season, his blocker/glove were 39/39 (out of 100)
Going into his 2nd season, his blocker/glove were 49/49
Going into his 3rd season, his blocker/glove were 64/64

on October 30th, 2032, he sprained his wrist, missing a week of games, and upon his return, his blocker hand got worse! at 22 it went down to a 59...!

Now, I have no concern, I know after a while it will go back up, he's young and a supremely talented goalie, who is insulated very well. I'd just never seen such a young player have a stat go DOWN seemingly due to injury. His condition is 100%, he is no longer injured, and he is taking full practices. Since returning he has played the best stretch of 6 games in his career, averaging a .920!

Also, I think I've found the absolute best player ever in this save.

Hunter Laing (IRL 6'6 16 year old forward)

Son of former Hershey Bears/Abbottsford Heat Captain Quintin Laing.

Drafted 10th overall by L.A in 2024. became a 20g 10a, 3rd liner for them by 2031, and then they... had cap problems and traded him to me for a first (other teams were offering 4ths and 3rds for him)

he is now 6'7, 211 behemoth...

He scored 40G 33A 73P, only got 49 PIMS, and led the league with 320 hits this year.

now, so far in the playoffs, he has 6G 9A 15P in only 9 games!

Look at this big beautiful redwood!

Hi guys! Just wanted to let all of you know I've updated my NHL Goal Horns mod for the 2022/2023 season.

DOWNLOAD: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

INSTALLATION: Copy and paste all the .wav files to Steam/steamapps/common/Eastside Hockey Manager/data/sounds/horns (you need to create a folder named "horns" if you don't have one).

There are 2 different Caps horns, use the one you prefer (the real one or the good one with the siren). If you prefer the siren one, rename it to "washington capitals.wav" and delete the original. If you want the new and real one, delete the "washington capitals WITH SIREN.wav" file.

EXTRA: 5 Faceoff songs (from the old mod, just sharing them again to keep everything in one place): https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

INSTALLATION: Copy & paste the 5 .wav files to Steam/steamapps/common/Eastside Hockey Manager/data/sounds.

I've also added 4 fantasy goal horns to be used with @BKarchitect NHLX database (hope you don't mind): Québec Nordiques, Kansas City Monarchs, Houston Aeros and Portland Rosebuds. If you're using Pivot/TBL DB, you can just ignore the 4 extra horns or delete them.

+ Québec Nordiques (real Nordiques used horn, but not their main one - a secondary horn they used for a brief amount of time... might wanna lower the volume with this one);
+ Houston Aeros (Aeros horn, 11/12 AHL);
+ Portland Rosebuds (Portland Pirates horn, 10/11 AHL);
+ Kansas City Monarchs (random horn).

Also, quick question: how do you guys run your practices? I usually leave practice and tactics to the HC. I just set the lines and draft/trade. But with my recent WHL save, player development was not good and I've decided to take control of practices. Using the 3 intensive/3 medium/1 empty schedule (mplasse's practice guide, check TBL) works better than the default/HC practice schedule, but now I am getting too many injuries (2nd line D injured for 4 months + lots of forwards with 1 to 2 weeks minor injuries). Is there anything I can change to maximize player development without having all these injuries?

Thank you to everyone who works on the DB's and mods that make this game still great in 2022, and good luck with your saves!
