the best 5 teams in march were all from the west and only 3 eastern teams are in the top 10.I can’t help but be slightly irritated by the constant pumping of tires for the East teams because it stopped being real awhile ago. The Oilers have had a better record than Boston for a couple months now and Vegas and LA might be 2 and 3. It’s great that the East had such a great start but for the last 20+ games, the Pacific has been dominant. Other than Boston, no one in the East has an impressive lead over the West now. Slight points to Carolina but 4 points over Vegas is far from dominant.
Umm, what? Which months are you talking about in this 'couple of months now'? This is wrong so I don't know what you're getting upset about.I can’t help but be slightly irritated by the constant pumping of tires for the East teams because it stopped being real awhile ago. Haven't looked at the numbers, but a few teams in the East have a great place since January. Of course, any of them could lose in the playoffs.Just to put that silly narrative to rest:
Edmonton FEB: 4-3-4
Boston FEB: 9-1-0
Edmonton lost more than won in Feb but if you want to go by points, they were one game above .500 for points earned in a game. Boston? Lost one game in February.
Edmonton MAR: 10-2-1
Boston MAR: 11-4-0
Edmonton had a great March getting 21 points in 13 games. Boston? 22 points in 14 games.
EDM (FEB & MAR) 14-5-5
BOS (FEB & MAR) 21-6-1
Not. Even. Close.

Panthers will finish in 7th and I think 8th spot will come down to Isles or Pens.
My point was that even the god awful Panthers have been playing at a 100 plus point pace since January, agreeing with you, more or less. The season starts in October and the Bruins got that memo.Oh yeah, I can see anyone losing in the first round I really can. I also believe the West has had a great race to the finish and wouldn't be at all surprised to see the West win the Cup.
I only took exception to the idea that Edmonton has been better than the Bruins for a couple months now. That just isn't true on any level and had to be corrected before people start believing that silliness.
I could also see EDMONTON beating Boston in the Finals (or any other team in the East as the playoffs are a totally different beast altogether!)
I could see that too.
Well, then the broadcast crew was wrong when they said the Oil have the best record in the NHL since they lost to LA on Jan. 9. So, maybe you’re wrong?Umm, what? Which months are you talking about in this 'couple of months now'? This is wrong so I don't know what you're getting upset about.
I’m not trying to spread mistruths but I’m just starting the Edmonton/LA game and they said it again. Who knows what to believe?Oh yeah, I can see anyone losing in the first round I really can. This is false. The Oilers have not had a better record than Boston for a couple months now. The West does occupy spots 2-6 in the standings over the last 25 games (approx 2 months, depending on the team), with Edmonton at #6 and Boston at #1.I can’t help but be slightly irritated by the constant pumping of tires for the East teams because it stopped being real awhile ago. I was speaking since Jan 9 since we lost to LA because it been during the two recent games against LA where I’ve heard the stat of us having the best record since then. So, the ten games before those last 25 games on that chart, the Oilers were 8-0-2. Maybe that changes things? This is false. The Oilers have not had a better record than Boston for a couple months now. The West does occupy spots 2-6 in the standings over the last 25 games (approx 2 months, depending on the team), with Edmonton at #6 and Boston at #1.
You'd have to consider only the last 12-17 games for Edmonton to rank above Boston.
Part of the "pumping of the tires" is the fact that the East still occupies 5 of the top 6 spots in the overall standings, loaded up with players from Western teams at the deadline, and has Tampa lurking outside those top spots waiting to turn it on when the playoffs start
I mean the Canes lost their two true threat scorers so it's meh.I can’t help but be slightly irritated by the constant pumping of tires for the East teams because it stopped being real awhile ago. after getting a bye in the firstThat'll give the Lightning an unfair advantage in round 2.
Oilers 24-4-6 since then but the Bruins seem to have a few more wins but more losses. Hard to keep them straight in my head as I counted. Maybe the broadcast crew was wrong when they said it.
You're allowed to look up stats too. You're already on the internet.....Oilers 24-4-6 since then but the Bruins seem to have a few more wins but more losses. Hard to keep them straight in my head as I counted. Maybe the broadcast crew was wrong when they said it.
I made a mistake by saying generically “couple of months” when I’ve clarified since then that the broadcast crew said since our loss to LA on Jan 9. They were not wrong. We do have the best winning % since then. You're allowed to look up stats too. You're already on the internet.....
Nice troll. Guess 3 of the top 5 records in the league since Jan 31 is garbage. Look at your wonderful Leafs right there in the middle with Vancouver and St. Louis! The biggest embarrassment of the NHL has the Pacific division. What a bunch of garbage teams.

I've always thought it to be very strange that posters are insecure about which conference is the best. The biggest embarrassment of the NHL has the Pacific division. What a bunch of garbage teams.
