Bickell was known as a low effort guy from the time he first tried on skates. We all feel bad about his illness, but pretending he spent most of his career as anything but a lazy player, and cashed in on one great playoffs, is as disingenuous now as it was then.
See what I mean. It's still going on years after he retired from the game. We need more fluff interviews. :)

He was great every playoffs. Don't get why people forget that. He was one of the few scoring in 2012 vs Smith. His line was great in 2011. He was good in 2014 too. 2015 he was falling down and definitely starting to be affected by MS, but he averages 5 hits a game.

Yeah he was honest, you can't go 100% like that every game. If he did in an 82 game season, he'd set a record for most hits in a season. That's just a legit truth to it.

coaches are fine to be honest some times. I recall Babcock, pos he is, had valid points his 1st year in Toronto saying, "who is going to score?" They don't have great talent. I'm sure some WANT the Hawks to losen up defensively to take more offensive chances but is that best for the team and future? Bedard is not the golden god like some see him. He shouldn't be viewed that way

Can someone explain to me why our big offseason acquisition in Bertuzzi who many assumed would be riding shotgun with Bedard continues to not be utilized or even given look for extended period in that role?
Bert had a stint on the first line and looked brutal. If he couldn't play the first line role with Mathews and Marner, what makes you think he can do any better here?

I can't.

Bedard has shot it off his stick a few times on the pp already this season. They have some chemistry. No reason not to try them on a line together.

Yeah. The difference between last season and this season has clearly been better goaltending. I'm not sure where this "they are better defensively" crap is coming from.
If you look at jfreshs other data, the xg Hawks are in the middle 10s the last time i saw someone post it. That is a well improved D. I dont log-in to the site to look at it his posts though.

Bedard ended last season pretty cold (1 goal in his last 10 games), got himself benched at the World Championships, had one goal (off a rebound) in all of preseason and now 3 goals in 18 games.

Im sure he's going through it mentally right now. Would not be opposed to the idea of sitting him for a game or two, honestly. Seemed to work well for Michkov.

Bedard is not the only under performer. Kurashev, Dickinsin are also in that category.... plus Bert and Brodie were overrated by our GM.

But it is much easier to put it all on the head coach. If Luke gets fired he certainly won't be the first coach to be the scapegoat for a team fail.

It really doesn’t matter if it’s Luke’s fault, the players fault, managements etc.

If it continues like this, Luke is going to run out of road. He’s not going to get three more years of the team not scoring and looking like they’re tuning him out.

And if the team is already tuning him out, then he’s a dead man walking.

Yep. It happens often.

The good news in all of this....we really could use another #1 or #2 overall pick so if shit hits the fan and we lose lose lose then not all is lost. Still a lot to look forward to.
