They could but it’ll be hard to win a Cup with both Panarin and Zabinajed. Someone lower down the lineup will have to step up.

The East is weak this year, so they could get to the final.

If that happens Shesterkin will demand $15 million a year.
Chris Drury leaked this and all the people who typically fail intelligence tests fall for it.

11M is a lower percentage of the salary cap than Lundqvist took. Much lower. 11M wouldn’t even be the highest paid player on our own team. Not even close.

There’s nothing unreasonable about asking for more. Yet, our slimy GM wanted to turn the fanbase against our best player because he thinks a lot of people are evidently not intelligent enough to recognize that he’s asking for market value. Instead, we have a lot of people who’ve bought Drury’s narrative.

The Rangers should hang a "EA Sports NHL 25 Stanley Cup Champions" banner at MSG.

Except Lundqvist was miles better at everything Shesterkin does in every measurable metric.

Except Igor Shesterkin isn't Henrik Lundqvist. There is a difference.

The Rangers' success hinges on 2 things:

1) Reilly Smith clicking with Kreider and Zib. This may be more on Zib than anyone else, but we'll see how it goes. He's only 1 year removed from a 91-point season.

2) Filip Chytil staying healthy. The Laf-Chytil-Kakko line was good two years ago, and in the playoffs the year before that. Cuylle is in Laf's spot now, but I 100% believe he can be as good as Laf was 2 years ago, if not better. But if Chytil is out, we have no one else who can center that line effectively.

Last year, the Rangers won the President's Trophy and made it to the ECF, despite being basically a 1-line team at even strength. If the 1st and 3rd lines produce more regularly at even strength, and assuming the PP, PK and goaltending continue at a high level, the Rangers have as good a chance as anyone, IMO.
