Brandon Saad (82 OVR, 23 years old, 4 stars gold)

I was looking to shake things up a bit this off-season, I felt I got younger and better

I capped off the off-season by signing Latislav Smid who I had traded last year to a 3 year, 4 mil per deal. Smid is 29 years old and is an 84 overall.

Although the big loss was Brian McGrattan, he retired

Bylsma and Shero out

Dan Bylsma and Ray Shero have both been fired. The Pittsburgh Penguins fire the duo after failing to make it past the second round in the 2014 playoffs. Replacements expected to be named soon.

Gretzky and Brisson join Pens' staff

Wayne Gretzky and Pat Brisson have been hired to fill the void of head coach and GM after both Dan Bylsma and Ray Shero were fired. Gretzky is the greatest player to ever play the game, and has head coaching experience with Phoenix. Brisson was the game's top player agent and this will be his first stint as an NHL GM. Pat has already made two blockbuster trades, acquiring who will be Crosby's new winger for a very long time. Moves made are below:

To Pittsburgh: LW Alex Ovechkin, RW Evgeny Kuznetsov, D Madison Bowey
To Washington: C Evgeni Malkin, LW Beau Bennett, D Derrick Pouliot, 2015 1st rounder

To Pittsburgh: C Jonathan Huberdeau
To Florida: LW Chris Kunitz

"These moves help us now and in the future. We now have the two best hockey players in the world (Crosby, Ovechkin), more scoring depth with a lot of potential (Huberdeau, Kuznetsov), and a very solid prospect in Madison Bowey. It's tough to give up Malkin but you have to give to get. Kunitz will get a lot more icetime in Florida and we wish him well. The team is trying to get into the top 10 of this year's draft, our current pick is 30th." said Brisson.

As a Pens fan I am gaging so hard at the 1st one.

If you want to win now, start looking for some Defence, At the moment The Pens just outscore their opponents. You should be able to pick up some cheap D-men with high Defensive awareness.

Pens get in top 10; Draft Turner

New GM Pat Brisson made his 3rd blockbuster deal of the week, this time acquiring top forward prospect Adam Erne, and the seventh overall pick, where they took big American forward, Jim Turner. Going to Tampa Bay, goaltender Marc-André Fleury, and D prospect Scott Harrington. "It's tough to give up Fleury, but we have full confidence in giving Tomas Vokoun the reigns in between the pipes next year. We are very excited about the potential of Jim Turner and we think he could crack our lineup as early as next season." said Brisson.

The Penguins draft picks are listed below:

1. Round 1, 7th overall, LW Jim Turner USA
2. Round 1, 30th overall, D Haydn Fleury CAN
3. Round 2, 57th overall, RW Sergej Zubov RUS

6. Round 6, 180th overall, G Daniel Gibl SVK

RFA C Brandon Sutter has been traded. The Pens acquired a 1st and 2nd round pick in 2015 from the Red Wings in exchange for the 25 year old, who's coming off a career high 44 point season. "Brandon is a great kid, but we're opening the door for something bigger here. We're going to remain competitive with or without him, and our future got better with this deal." said GM Pat Brisson.

UFA Signings

G Leland Irving, 2 years, 1.8M

"We are very happy with the signings we've made. Jagr and Kostitsyn are going to be great complementary pieces to potentially go all the way." said Brisson.

For the most part the team is set in stone, but there are a few battles to be held in camp for the last couple spots. Who will be Tomas Vokoun's backup? The newly signed Leland Irving, or Jeff Zatkoff, who took Wilkes-Barre all the way to the Calder Cup finals last season. There are roughly 8 players competing for 4 spots on defence, including 2014 first round pick Haydn Fleury. Letang, Martin, Niskanen, and Scuderi are locks. There will be a lot of forwards competing to play on the fourth line as well. Camp will be very interesting, that's for sure.

I'm going to be playing all the games. My team actually has quite a bit of depth and I'd say we'll be strong. Will probably add a top four d-man at some point though, and possibly a good third line center.

Hey guys, I am trying to think of a team to use in my Be A GM mode and was wondering if you guys had any suggestions? I would prefer a team that still has some holes to fill. I also wouldn't mind some sort of backstory with a team, such as relocation, rebuild etc. Any help would be appreciated

Dupuis to Columbus, Team Picked

GM Pat Brisson made his final move prior the the start of the 2014-2015 season, sending forward Pascal Dupuis, along with goaltending prospect Matt Murphy, to Columbus in exchange for one of the game's best scoring prospects, Kerby Rychel. Rychel will begin the season in the AHL.

The rosters for the 2014-2015 season have been released. By far the biggest surprise of camp was the play of 2014 2nd round pick Sergej Zubov. He not only became the first 2nd round pick to jump straight into the NHL since Ryan O'Reilly, but he outplayed seventh overall pick Jim Turner to earn a spot on the third line. "Sergej is a very intimidating player. He's about 6'5", and hits like a truck. He's going to learn a lot this season and we're excited to work with him." said Pens' head coach Wayne Gretzky. Zubov will be among three rookie players on the roster, along with fellow Russian forward Evgeny Kuznetsov, and defenseman Brian Dumoulin. Rosters for the NHL and AHL are below:

Pittsburgh Penguins
A. Ovechkin-S. Crosby-J. Neal
J. Huberdeau-E. Kuznetsov-J. Jagr
J. Jokinen-S. Zubov-S. Kostitsyn
R. Cervenka-Z. Sill-S. Machacek

I have in the past as a challenge put a National team like France, Japan, and England into GM. It forces a build and its nothing but holes to fill. As far as a NHL team, Try the Rangers. I know as a Devils fan you might not like that, but they are right against the cap the whole way through with awful contracts. It may be fun.

How good does Leon Draisaitl usually become? And by what age?

Thanks

I've seen him be a late bloomer (84 OVR two years after ELC), but also an instant success (88 OVR as ELC expires). Still usually puts up 60+ points when a full-time NHLer that's progressed fully.

Country idea is interesting...
I just cant see any interest in being the Rags though, ANY other team comparable to them in the game?

Was also thinking of starting at the 2013 draft with the Draft Day Default roster or w/e, any team specifically that would work there good?

I can't think of any other team that if you buy out their players then re-sign them you would save 15 mill

Brandon Sutter (82)
Lee Stempniak (81)

1st trade I wanted to go out and get a stud defenceman. I had a few guys at 83/84 so I could trade Franson, Knight was the trigger, although I got Sutter to replace him.

2nd trade I made because I wanted some more prospects with size. Leon is a few years ahead of the 1st and based on our position in the standings, where we'd pick and who was there and our depth in the 2nd and 3rd rounds I feel it was fine to move that 1st.

3rd trade I made to get younger and replace a few pieces. We have no depth at RW, it's just Stempniak and Colborne who play RW. Sutter replaces Knight. Hudler was getting too old, Kanzig's nothing and neither is the 4th.

Will try and post quick updates when I can....

Did anyone read my Madison Renegades write ups? If anyone can't remember it, I only used players from the 2014 draft and later.

Only will continue if a few people read them.. If not I won't bother.

I read it, but I understand. I'm still playing my Boston Series, but have to stop the write-ups. Just no time to do them.

Since the other thread I was posting in appears to have died I'll move into this thread. A little back story, fantasy draft took place, drafted Weber, Rask and Krejci with my top 3 picks. Currently in the 2017-18 season. So far have won two Stanley Cups and just won my 3rd straight President's Trophy.
