Finally some hockey news worth taking about. Welcome aboard Dylan!

Nice to hear the calm, confident voice of King Bong, I miss all his positive reassuring posts, in this time of mayhem and Virus scare. I noticed Bogo didn't participate in some of the CO VID - 19 - discussions, because he's way to smart to get in squabbles we have no control over. :)

Hockey is not really on my radar lately but, oh yeah, this is a good day for Jet fans. Don't want to pump him up too much, but I do expect that he will be a valuable addition to our back end.
Kid looks like he will be a beast!

Agreed, Heinola isn't close to ready for a top pairing slot and if we are very lucky in two to three years he might be capable of top pairing minutes.

It's amazing how quickly Morrisey has gone from stud to dud after one half a poor season where he wasn't healthy. He is still the best dmen on the team and will bounce back to being a very good all around top pairing guy next season imo.

He was instantly better once he got DeMelo as a partner.

Signing him is job #1 right now, IMO.

Future LHD

JMo Slamberg Heinola Stanley Lundmark Vallati Niku?

Not a bad crop. Did I forget anyone?

This defense has come a long way in a very short time considering we changed out Buff , Trouba , Myers and Charoit all in one season . . Only 3 more days and it will be a month since we last saw a Jets game .

Actually I doubt Sami is moving on. He likely gets qualified and signed for something in the $1 - $1.2 M range on a bridge and is given an opportunity to earn a spot. A DeMelo signing likely relegates him to 3rd pairing work with Poolman assuming he takes a step forward with his defensive game. Altogether this gives us a pretty nice back end next season if the pieces all come together.

No way he gets an offer of 1 mil +.

The RD isn’t as high quality as in past, but it’s much better than we started the season with.
It’s only 2 days without a Jets game for me. I have NHL Live and I’ve been rewatching games from this season... it’s either that or strip down to my boxers, paint my body purple, put a diaper on my head and run amuck.

Stoked for Samberg. I was slightly worried he might try FA in a year.

I think this is also not favourable for Niku. I could see him taking the Postma like path as a decent offensive 6-7 and eventually signing elsewhere as a depth D.

So your real name is Sacha Baron Cohen...?

Can I call your wife...?

Evolving Hockey's contract projection model suggests that Niku would sign for 1 year and 792K (assuming a salary cap of 81.5M).

Sounds about right. 2 way, ~100k in the A. He will need waivers to be sent down but likely clears at the start of the season.

I still have the last game against the Oilers on PVR , i think i've watched it 6 times . Never gets old watching the Jets beat the Oilers though . :naughty:

Might be more growing pains next year as we could run a VERY young D corps. Our vet will be the grizzled 25 year old 5 year pro Josh Morrissey, followed by Neal Pionk entering his 3rd full NHL season, then potentially Heinola and Samberg. We're going to have to stock up on diapers (either for our bottom 4 or us when we watch the games )
