Friedman: Dylan Larkin requests trade

People are mentioning Yurov as a centerpiece from Minnesota. I think JEE, both in terms of necessary value and what Detroit would want/need coming back, is a far likelier starting point.

Harder to swallow from Minnesota, but probably necessary.
With what assets?
You proposed 1st + Hage/Zharovsky from Montréal, lmao. You seriously think there's a single team in the league that can't beat that?

I'll throw in Buffalo as a dark horse. We really need top-6 center help and have the ammo to make a compelling offer. Norris would likely have to go the other way (he's a decent 2C when he's healthy, which is never).

Really depends on what detroit wants I guess? do they go full rebuild or try and patch it by trading him for a mctavish/ JEE piece.

Good. Not surprised after his complaints about the team not getting him more help at the trade deadline.
Well, he bet on Yzerman's plan in 2023 vs hitting the open market or getting traded.

Gave them an elc, 5 year deal, then 8 years. Already through 3 years on this 8 year deal. Been 10 seasons of no playoffs for him.

Sucks for a local kid, but now that he turns 30 in '26 he probably realizes he does not have the time left anymore.

Thank God. This guy is a diva and a horrible leader, and it has been one of the worst captains in Detroit Red Wings history. Good player and I hope he does well elsewhere, but I am so happy he has asked for a trade and that we can finally move on from the pathetic Larkin era.

To be clear I also think Steve Yzerman is a terrible GM, but a Dylan Larkin lef team has collapsed four years in a row and he is a complete no-show when it matters.
