I was hoping we would keep Holloway, and let Broberg walk.

I didn't understand not matching Holloway, and I still don't.

It's unfortunate to, he loved Edmonton and will miss playing that high intensity playoff hockey
You don’t match Holloway because numerous players have taken discounts to play for the oilers. Paying a fourth liner double is going to be problematic for team cohesion.

Can not believe the Oilers picked Skinner over this guy
I guess you don’t understand team.

They like one dimensional players with zero playoff games?

In terms of more offer sheets, this was a perfect storm caused by Edmonton leaving 2 RFAs unsigned. Had they signed one or the other early, it's unlikely the Blues try what they did.

I don't think we will see more offer sheets. If anything, we will see less because teams might see this is a reminder to be more conservative when it comes to leave players open to offer sheets. Teams already do work to defend against offer sheets like trading RFAs before.July 1st or signing the player asap, but I think this could lead to teams being even more defensive.

Who's the 4th liner you're referring to? Surely not Holloway.

Wouldn't a team mentality be to take care of your own players first instead of going outside of the organization to sign UFAs?

Holloway could have had 2-3 goals last night and set up Scheen who missed an empty net tap in. He only ended up with 1 assist. Bad night for Holly :(

Yesss, because its just so easy to win a stanley cup. Holy f*** where do they get these guys from. This isnt NHL 25 You cant turn on forced trades and turn off salary cap.
You actually think that management and the overseers have done a good job? Chiarelli was an absolute disaster

*G. Reinhart
*Eberle into Strome/Spooner/nothing.
*How about evaluate Koskinen for longer before that stupid contract
*or give Sekera 6 yrs at big money when he was barely a top4
*How about don't turn 1st overall Taylor Hall into a boat anchor contract (Lucic) and then nothing when Larsson walked. The 4 combined handcuffed the teams cap to say nothing of how bad it was on ice
*Puljujarvi over Tkachuk...i mean teams make mistakes at the draft table but Tkachuk should have been the archetype addition to McDavid Draisaitl not a player who's big move was to skate around players....called that one from day1
*Had no communications with their non top50 pick prospects (i know someone who was drafted by them in this era and they had and others had zero development guidance)
*Kept picks then pissed them away when they were ready to help. Could have used them to offload bad contracts. Could have acquired good players. All years wasted at optimizing McDavid and Draisaitl and the fact those 2 together with competent management should have been a decade of dominance

Then even after they got rid of that moron they actually do a good job for a couple years then drop the ball this off season. Holloway Broberg McLoed Foegele for the old overpaid injury prone dreck they kept.

If you win it will be because Bowman saves face and the dynamic duo pull it off with idiots running the show

He would be a fourth liner in Edmonton or at least that was his fear.

And a team mentality in a salary cap league starts with with what the team can afford.

Humorous that people think the oilers should have matched guys who signed for other teams. Have you no pride?

Your crystal ball is working well.

Your crystal ball is working well.
you mean the crystal ball of facts that the Oilers did an awful job with Chiarelli or the one that says

Holloway 23 Foegele 27 Mcloed 25 Broberg 23 = 40g - 57a - 97pts (+45) is much better than
Arvidsson 31 Skinner 32 Henrique 34 Emberson 24 = 19g - 31a - 50pts (+2)

Younger faster better 2 way more productive
As i said it could be salvageable but pretty hard to deny facts
