Watching Edmonton in the playoffs last year and it was obvious Holloway was going to break out. He was often one of the more noticeable players while some of their big players (rnh, draisaitl) were complete ghosts.

I said right from the start that Holloway is the prize and I'm not at all surprised that he has upped his production. Edmonton made a big mistake here just losing Holloway alone.

I liked Holloway's hustle in the playoffs last year, but your post makes it sound like he was a total stud -- he wasn't. He scored 5 goals in 25 games, with limited ice time, but hardly amazing results.

Meanwhile, Draisaitl -- the "complete ghost" -- scored 8 goals in the first 9 playoff games. (Then he got injured.)

I said right from the start that Holloway is the prize and I'm not at all surprised that he has upped his production. Edmonton made a big mistake here just losing Holloway alone.

I'm not sure what "the prize" means.

It's no surprise that Holloway is doing well now that he has serious minutes and plays a big role. Glad to see him finding his way.

On the other hand, Holloway is pacing for 60 scoring points --- not 160, as some here make it sound --- and St. Louis is pacing to miss the playoffs. Meanwhile, Edmonton has been the best team in the NHL since Nov. 9th and is doing just as well as last season when they had Holloway.

It's funny to see Holloway do this when there were a group of Oiler fans laughing at him saying he'd never produce like this because he was giving up a chance to play with McDavid or Draisaitl.

No oiler fan said this. Every oiler fan was pretty upset about losing Holloway probably more so the Broberg to be honest. Now im no way did any oiler fans think he would produce like this so soon. Nit we all new he had top 6 potential. And we all nee he was being misused in edmonton as well

The guy is 23 and a core piece on a young, up and coming team, which has a competent front office, and that will be contending sooner rather than later. I'm sure he's ecstatic.

It's not as if the Blues are a lottery team, or even trending down. They're not far off from a playoff spot. They have a very bright future considering the young pieces they already have on the roster, as well as an exciting crop of prospects that will be breaking into the lineup over the next 1-4 years.

Replaceable players? You're kidding, right? How many Blues games have you watched this year? Not matching Holloway is the type of move that can solidly slam a competitive window.

Remind me how that worked out for the Oilers when they offer sheeted Dustin Penner. How many playoff wins did they get with him?

Oilers absolutely botched the Holloway/Broberg situations every step of the way.

Broberg I could somewhat understand but it is crazy the oilers let Holloway walk. I didnt like it at the time and it looks even worse now.

Just a mismanaged situation.

That's a 16 goal/82 game pace. Only 4 oilers forwards are currently on pace to match that. And we all know scoring is typically lower in playoffs than regular season so in some ways like a 20 goal pace.

There were very clear signs of a breakout looming.

Always kind of thought he'd be a bigger loss than Broberg and wanted him badly his draft year. He's big, he's fast, he shoots, he's a handful on the boards, drives the net and is physical off the puck. Was a handful both games against the Flames in STL.

youre mixing it up. I dont think any expected Holloway not to do well in St Louis by virtue of him getting more opportunity to play in all situations,

We collectively thought he made a mistake if wanted to win a cup. Chances are he gets more after a cup win, but regardless, no one is mad that holloway and broberg took the money, anyone would.

Broberg looks like he cant handle a full 82 game schedule, which was one of the worries of matching at 4.6 mil.

I don't want to rehash this stuff, it would take a lot of time trying to find the exact posts, but there were more than a few that said Holloway was making a mistake because he'd be passing up a chance with McDavid or Draisaitl and wouldn't be able to produce to a similar level with lesser talent in St. Louis.

Yes, part of it was just cope of a fan in the moment potentially losing and eventually losing young 1st round picks. I absolutely remember people talking about how he was fake being happy in interviews because people still thought his motivation was to sign the offer-sheet and then have it be matched and the whole thing was Broberg's agent using Holloway's agent.
