Geez. Does Holmgren hate puck moving ability?
It's quite sad that this isn't out of the realm of possibility.
With the exception of Pavelski and Clowe, the star players have not been a problem. The lack of puck movement and production from the blueline and the lack of consistent scoring depth is killing the team.
The only bright spots in our bottom 6 are Wingels and Sheppard. Everyone else is underperforming, overpaid, or both.
Puck movement and breakout stretegy is the coach's job. Good player signings is on the GM. They both have failed imo.
Yep. I know the Oilers fans were complaining a while back about their bad faceoff %. The fact that they are already such a speedy team could make it ok to have a slower player like Handzus.
Jones for Handzus and a conditional pick if SJ signs Jones to an extension.
Jones is just as bad as Handzus.
But he can skate faster which is the whole point of the move.
panic mode would be Pavs Havenot, Chompers, and Boyle/Marloo/JT
if any of this current talk about Clowe and others is true it is the SOS from DW..not addressing the real issues..a few of the top guys are still passengers and have been for more than a few years..you cant keep trading blue chips and replacing 3/4 liners and hope that fixes it(See Ginnr, Burish)
IMO it may be time to ask cornerstones to waive their NTC's and start a rebuild now while DW may still have leverage and player equity..take stock and point in a new direction..not a Kings, wings, Senators direction, but a Sharks hockey direction..
this team most likely will not make the PO's and if they do will get bounced in the first round..team chemistry is lacking and you cant ask 3/4 line guys to drag everyone else into the fight...What we are whitnessing is the result of a poorly constructed and managed team/org culture with lifers taking it for granted. This is what we are seeing now...the window is closed, time to start a new era...
The top guys are the only ones doing anything whatsoever.
a few of them are still the problem....and have been the reason they cant get over the hump...
The top guys are the only ones doing anything whatsoever.
I'll let you decide...Which ones?
I'll let you decide...
when losing or struggling, the top guys need to lead by example through the details of the game...compete level, hustle and body work...look at Burns, he has been the best forward since playing up front. He pays attention to the details. Is it b/c he is having fun, or b/c he loves to compete? He uses his body in an aggressive manner on a consistent level but is you notice he connects taht with competing...some of the other top guys do the button hooks, letting guys off the hook when they could finish guys, not competing for pucks....
it is in the details...some of the top guys are either not having fun..have failed too much in SJ, too much pressure or they need a new scenery..
compare a guy like Dustin Brown to our top guys...that should give you a barometer...You'll let me decide? Really? That's the worst answer you could have given. I'll ask again, which guys are you talking about?

Dustin Brown: 11-7-18 in 27 games.
Patrick Marleau: 14-8-22 in 27 games.
Joe Thornton: 5-22-27 in 27 games.
Hmm.
JT and Marleau dont have the DNA, individually, or together, to deliver a cup in SJ....i proof is in the puddingtranslation: "I'm avoiding saying "Joe Thornton" or "Patrick Marleau" because I will get slammed and be unable to back it up with any real information so I am instead being intentionally vague."
