1-in-20 is roughly Garrioch's batting average on rumors, and the one hit is usually within 12 hours of an official announcement. I don't need the other 19 free Ottawa Sun articles, so I'm declaring victory this season and going home.

T.O. to S.J. & back
It's quite sad that this isn't out of the realm of possibility.

I know. Let's hope that if a deal is made, D. W. doesn't get swindled again as in the McGinn deal.

With the exception of Pavelski and Clowe, the star players have not been a problem. The lack of puck movement and production from the blueline and the lack of consistent scoring depth is killing the team.

The only bright spots in our bottom 6 are Wingels and Sheppard. Everyone else is underperforming, overpaid, or both.

Puck movement and breakout stretegy is the coach's job. Good player signings is on the GM. They both have failed imo.

So true and well put.

Speaking of Pav's, it wouldn't surprise me if he is 'part' of a deal if one comes involving the Leafs. The talk here for some time has been their need of a centre pretty badly. They've been riding Bozak as their number 1 centre for a couple years now. They were even talking of trying to get JVR to play at centre seeing they have had trouble attaining one.

on Handzus; we can only wish someone would come calling.

Yep. I know the Oilers fans were complaining a while back about their bad faceoff %. The fact that they are already such a speedy team could make it ok to have a slower player like Handzus.

Jones for Handzus and a conditional pick if SJ signs Jones to an extension.

panic mode would be Pavs Havenot, Clowse, TJ, Burish, Chompers, Demers, Sled
Boots and Boyle/Marloo/JT...take your pick..

if any of this current talk about Clowe and others is true it is the SOS from DW..not addressing the real issues..a few of the top guys are still passengers and have been for more than a few years..you cant keep trading blue chips and replacing 3/4 liners and hope that fixes it(See Ginnr, Burish)

IMO it may be time to ask cornerstones to waive their NTC's and start a rebuild now while DW may still have leverage and player equity..take stock and point in a new direction..not a Kings, wings, Senators direction, but a Sharks hockey direction..

this team most likely will not make the PO's and if they do will get bounced in the first round..team chemistry is lacking and you cant ask 3/4 line guys to drag everyone else into the fight...What we are whitnessing is the result of a poorly constructed and managed team/org culture with lifers taking it for granted. This is what we are seeing now...the window is closed, time to start a new era...

The top guys are the only ones doing anything whatsoever.

This........ and there is no way DW starts a rebuild. Boyle, Marleau, Thornton and Pavs are all UFAs at the end of next year. DW is going to sit with this core, try and fix everything around it and he will let is ride. That is his only hope to save his job. If this team still looks like this at next year's trade dealing, then maybe ownership forces DW to start trading those guys for prospects/picks, assuming they waive their no trade clauses.

I hope everyone starts preparing themselves that it is more likely that our prospects and picks will be traded instead of trading our NHLers for prospects/picks.

Which ones?
I'll let you decide...

when losing or struggling, the top guys need to lead by example through the details of the game...compete level, hustle and body work...look at Burns, he has been the best forward since playing up front. He pays attention to the details. Is it b/c he is having fun, or b/c he loves to compete? He uses his body in an aggressive manner on a consistent level but is you notice he connects taht with competing...some of the other top guys do the button hooks, letting guys off the hook when they could finish guys, not competing for pucks....

it is in the details...some of the top guys are either not having fun..have failed too much in SJ, too much pressure or they need a new scenery..

You'll let me decide? Really? That's the worst answer you could have given. I'll ask again, which guys are you talking about?

translation: "I'm avoiding saying "Joe Thornton" or "Patrick Marleau" because I will get slammed and be unable to back it up with any real information so I am instead being intentionally vague."

You do know that Dustin Brown was on the trade block during the last trade deadline, right? One good playoff run and now suddenly he's Mr. Consistent.

The top guys on the Sharks haven't been an issue, with the sole exceptions being Clowe and Pavelski. It's the depth and offensively-inept defensemen that are holding this team back.

Dustin Brown: 11-7-18 in 27 games.

Patrick Marleau: 14-8-22 in 27 games.
Joe Thornton: 5-22-27 in 27 games.

Hmm.

regardless of those numbrers SJ is in the cellar...and hasnt been able to elevate enough when it counts..how old is Brown again?

JT and Marleau dont have the DNA, individually, or together, to deliver a cup in SJ....i proof is in the pudding

and to the guy who knocked Brown(Chubbs)..Brown has a ring! and out competed the top guys last night in a very important game..
