He will become the favourite if he drags the Flames into the playoffs
This whole Flames suck narrative needs to stop. They just fully outplayed Rangers and Minnesota. And have done to a bunch of good teams.

Defense is getting better each week as well which is natural for brand new pairings.

They are winning because of goaltending, hard work, and luck. The highest scoring player on the team is Andersson at 130th with 13 points. Weegar is second on the team with 12 and Huberdeau is the leading forward with 11.

It will be incredibly hard for them to maintain their position if the goaltending slips and the scoring remains the same.

Or you know, the like 7 players on forwards don't all have the worst years of their careers.

I think its more likely that the goaltender thats been doing this for 6 years maintains than our entire offense stays snake bit much longer. I watch this team and say how are they not scoring like 6 times a game.

I watch them as well. The reason they aren’t scoring is because they aren’t that good. Huberdeau will go down as one of the biggest flops and regressions in NHL history. Coleman, Kadri, and Backlund are older. Kuzmenko is back to playing like a cap dump.
There is some solid talent in Zary, Sharangovich, and Coronato at least.

Alright well that biggest flop in history is our leading scorer... But yes I agree, I expect 3 or 4 players to surpass him, if not more when goals start going in. Sharangovich you can already see turning on. Zary should have 5 more goals at least. Coleman and Backlund have been amazing this year, their goals just come in waves like they have for the last 4 years.

I didn't realize 6 months made the whole team old and that much worse than last year. By christmas I think our PP will be league average, you can already see it making huge improvements after the disaster to start.

I do like the patient approach. I hated the way my Flyers brought along 79, even if in retrospect they maximized the NHL career he was going to be able to have. Montreal almost ruined Price, too, almost, lucky for them he was just that good. In the end it comes down to what you have, but a year or two as an AHL starter should pretty much always be a must. Your options of today suck and your prospect is killing it, it's tempting to say "He's ready and already better than what we have in the NHL", then a couple years later, you're looking for the next one.

You look at Wolf on draft day and I’m not sure there was an option to not develop him slowly.

Elite star in the making.

Leading the Calder for me right now and it's not even remotely close, the guy will drag the Flames to the playoffs like Kipper did in '04. Even though the Flames have one of the worst offenses in the league (literally can't score more than 3 goals a game max, usually only 2) they are still winning because he only let's in 1 or 2 (or a shutout).

His size being a question mark was always a joke, all you needed to do was watch a couple games and you'd see how good he is. He has won the award for best goalie in every league, always is top in every stat category in those leagues and is doing so in his first full time year. He'll win a Vezna one day I have no doubt of that in my mind.
