Are you related to him or are one of his buddies? I remember how confused most people were when they hired him. How did he work his way up to the NHL? Please enlighten me.

My guess is that he did well with the Oil Kings goalies and that got him the job.

This guy is the reason I can never really look forward to new goalies because he will make them worse in no time.

The New York teams are spoiled with Korn and Allaire. Also f*** Vancouver for having Ian Clarke. I'm f***ing jealous lol

Dubnyk continued to regress hard after he left here.
Oh reaaalllly??

Whether it’s directly his fault or not, he’s the person in charge of coaching the position that has been the bane of our team for however long. Should have seen the door a long time ago.

Looks like it took a year to shake off the Schwartz stains

Looks like it took a year to shake off the Schwartz stains
Not even a year really. I remember it well though. We traded him to Nashville. Nashville dumps him to Montreal after a couple of bad games citing a lack of fundamentals after the trade was made. Montreal sends him to the AHL and then sends him home. They would rather pay him to stay home than play. Dubnyk cited this as a major part in recognizing that he had to rebuild his game. The game built by Schwartz and the rest of our coaches. He managed to get a backup spot with Arizona and spent the entire summer working on tracking the puck and re-establishing his fundamentals. He excels under excellent goalie coaching, goes to Minnesota and his career is back on track. That scenario likely should have gotten the Oilers a new goalie coach. Having our 1st round pick, goalie of the future ruined only to stick elsewhere after re-learning to play is pretty damning you would think.

The question isn’t even whether he’s the problem. The questions to ask are “is he exceptional?” “Is he one of the best in the business?” If the answers are no then why is he still here?

The Netflix documentary that comes out in 10 years is going to be fire. "Dustin Schwartz: Goalie Tampering."

DS - " You could say I enjoyed destroying each goalie slowly to the point that they had little to no trade value."

DS - " I had blackmail on everyone, even Hunter..."

Imagine wasting McDrai because they’re intent on keeping some university goalie around as a goalie coach no matter what

2 years ago this pole was started and the goalie situation has got progressively worse.

New word for glue.

Hey pass me the Schwartz. He stuck to that guy like Schwartz. I farted so much my ginch stuck like Schwartz (this one fits the term best)

Hasn't been fired because "local kid! Went to the UofA!"

In the Oilers organization if you are local and went to the UofA you basically get a blank cheque to be as bad as you want and not face any consequences for it. It would be too mean.

Only the Oilers would think there couldn't possibly be someone better available in the whole of north america simply because they didn't grow up a good prairie boy

vs Vancouver this year

Canucks 18 goals on 84 shots on goal
Oilers 6 goals on 110 shots on goal

Pathetic

Lol. The Nucks scored 2 goals every 10 shots. That's a goal every 5 shots for 3 games.

Are we living in some alternate reality ?

It's amazing to me how all Oilers fans are such keen eyes for talent when it comes to goalie coaches.

Goalies are tough enough to evaluate for me - goalie coaches? I have no f***ing clue.

As I understand it - when it comes to NHL goalies, they already have pre-established styles and existing coaches. Dustin Schwartz is able to influence goalies somewhat, but he's certainly not 100% responsible for their development once they hit the Oilers.

I've met Dustin and he seems like a stand-up guy. That being said I'm NOT saying he's unfireable. But it isn't as simple as saying "our goalies stink - fire the goalie coach!". You need to A: identify what's wrong with what Schwartz is doing, and B: be able to identify someone who can do a better job.

A small goalie who never had an SP
over .891 in junior is instructing our goalies and their positioning, a Goalie who had one winning season record as well never played a professional game in his life is the best the team can employ.

Wayne Gretzky was the best hockey player to ever live.

Wayne Gretzky was a f***ing awful head coach.

One has vanishingly little to do with the other.

Like I said - I'm open to maybe the Oilers need to move on from Schwartz. But I've never heard an actual reason that has to do with his ability as a goalie coach why.
