But they're not, they're keeping him on the roster and adding a distraction that wasn't necessary.

This is how I read it too. They bring back a coach that is part of the problem, then take away the captaincy, how could this not cause a problem going forward? :shakehead

Short term problem for long term solution. Brown has to go. You're still left with a severely over paid player without sutter.

From what I'm reading, it sounded more like a decision from management.

Also, given how the Sharks did this with two different captains on the roster and how nasty some of those comments were (particularly the exchanges between Thornton and Doug Wilson), I'm sure they can get over it.

These guys are professionals. He doesn't have to like the decision, but he's still getting paid to show up to work, and I expect Brown to do that.

Who has had a worse 2 years as far as execs go?

1 playoff win in 2 seasons.
1st round picks gone in 2015 and 2016
Jones traded along with 1st, ends up on division rival and in the finals
2.5m in dead cap space this coming season
Defense in disarray

No, I would not have brought back Richards. I thought that much was apparent to anyone who has posted here awhile. Same with Greene. Again, 10 years, 45m after how those guys played in 2014? come oon

Gaborik extension, well this is tough. I was in favor of bringing him back and the only way he could do it because of the idiotic decisions on Richards and Greene was to go for a longer term less AAV contract. I wouldn't have done that because I would not have committed 8.25m in salary in 2014-2015 to Richards and Greene. Gaborik is much more manageable at 4 years, and a larger cap hit.

Alot of this snowballs from the awful decisions to keep those 2 guys. With an extra 8 and change in 2014 the Kings could have easily gotten two guys in UFA better than Richards and Greene, they would probably be on the roster right now, we wouldn't have a hole at 3C and on defense and wouldn't carry $2.5m in dead space.

Lucic trade only should have been done if the Kings were prepared to extend him, rentals are an awful strategy (as DL himself has said before)

Don Sweeney aside from the Lucic trade has been really bad, Sakic has been pretty poor, Bergevin, and then you have Chiarelli and Benning. if Sekera doesnt get hurt and the Kings make the playoffs...that trade doesnt look half as bad. just like the Carter, Richards, and Gaborik trades but the only difference is those trades worked out. can you imagine if those trades failed? no GM has a perfect trade record and for the most part Dean has done pretty well but his last couple of deals have gone bad. **** happens and the Kings have been put through some heavy **** the last few seasons (Richards serious drug problem, Voynov and domest violence, Stoll's drugs, etc). what other GM has been faced with the tough decisions Dean has the last two seasons? he could have been better but I think he will learn and be better
