I just remember laughing when I attended a game in October 2011 (several months after Sturm was waived) and found this Sturm jersey shirt. First because they actually produced the shirt even though Sturm was on the team for less than three months the previous season. Secondly because they were still charging full price.

Man, if there's one guy who I wish could've got a ring in 2011 it's Marco Sturm. He was such a huge part of the Bruins' revival from the 2005 gutter to being perennial playoff contenders by 2011. Great guy and so full of energy, always had the best facial expressions. But after his injury the Bruins had literally no cap space at all and when he was cleared to come off LTIR they had no capacity to activate him so they had to give him to LA for nothing and he missed out on the cup run. Always makes me a little sad.

Good on the Leafs for not being afraid to give out “67.”
The number has been used earlier by three players, two of which don't have a total of one season of games in their NHL careers (Brandon Kozun and Radim Zohorna) as well as one guy who could fit this thread as well - Robert Svehla

I once asked Steve why he wore #11 with the Kings (his #22 was briefly worn by Dave 'Tiger' Williams but it was available for much of Steve's time with the Kings) and he responded "Well, I figured I was half as good as I was with the Canadiens."

As an aside, it's absolutely stunning to me that (presumably) professional designers -- who've been to art school (?) and should have some sense of basic aesthetics -- designed these uniforms and evidently thought they were attractive.

I have a new grievance/pet peev that never occurred to me or dawned on me until today and this seems like the most appropriate place to air it.

When a player retires, NHL.com needs to be faster in reverting their picture back to whatever team they are most associated with. Jarome Iginla has been retired for 7 years and is still wearing a #88 LA Kings jersey in his main page photo.
