I don't think Wheeler is best served on the third line, especially with Perreault and Bourque. I'm ok with him staying where he was, but the ELR line should've been the first line tonight in ice time.
It's about getting him to put in some effort, not about "serving him". Guy has been brutal this season.

It's most important to separate Scheifele and Wheeler no matter who it serves or doesn't.

Bad enough to miss the playoffs, good enough to get a mid-range 1st round pick.

I knew this would be a rough season, but it's looking like it'll be rougher than I originally thought.

Oh well. At least Ehlers is playing well.

I don't like the punishment approach myself. He's not going to get going playing with Matthew Perreault and Gabriel Bourque (as I'd assume Copp would take his place up there). All three of them were bad tonight, and 55 has been just as bad lately.

Post-game audio:

Players: Wheeler, Ehlers and Hellebuyck.

Coach Maurice scrum topics: Assessing the game and specifically the 2nd period. Are guys cheating for offence? On the fifth goal against. Does having seven D contribute to the confusion? First impression of Sbisa? On Kyle Connor having nine shots. On Blake Wheeler. More on Kyle Connor.

Maybe we can be the Blues of this year BUT that would mean firing PoMo in about 3-4 weeks and calling up Bredin to go on a big tear.

No gad dam way Chevy the staunch loyalist will do that!

would also require not having an AHL defence. Difference was the Blues were a good team, just need to turn things around and a fresh coach. We are just a bad team that also has a bad coach haha

I don't like vets getting a free pass and zero accountability, myself. Especially leadership.

I don't think you'd see Laine, Ehlers, or Connor being moved to play with 57 and 85 either. And 55 was just as bad, so reduce their ice time and play the line that was working more. 81-55-26 can score, we've seen it, so splitting them up in the 3rd when you're chasing the game doesn't seem like a smart move to me. Playing them on 2nd line minutes does. I think you get the same message across by giving them under 20 minutes of ice time.

I'm amazed we have 6 wins with what Chevy has given him to work with

He's given him a top 6 that's one of the best in the league, that's being deployed at a 15.6%, good for the bottom third in the league. League worst PK. They've been getting food goaltending. Their biggest issue has been an inability to score, not defend.

If the team had any creativity at all, they'd be at 8-5 or 9-4 instead of 6-7.

Cheer up we're not getting a mid 1st round pick.

That's true. Heinola is one of the few bright spots on defense, but is sitting in the press box as an 18 year old. That's piss-poor usage of talent, given the trash that finds its way onto the ice instead. I can't wait for Niku, Lowsy and Laine to get back to patch this sieve.

To be fair Heinola was brutal against the Kings and got manhandled, he's 20 lbs to light for the NHL and his own safety on the ice!

Schief hasn't looked like a 1C since 2018

Sbisa a bit of an upgrade on the potato and the sloth like big Swede Dahlstrom who has to be the slowest guy in the NHL!

Ehlers and the hustle of the can't score twins Connor and Roslovic the only bright spots!
