Fighting for the cup is war. Gudas haters haven’t seen a cup win in a lifetime— so they think you can dance your way to a cup with a locker room dj. Gudas is definitely a leader in the battlefield. They don’t need a dance floor captain.

You can tell who never played the game at a high level or at all by the comments bashing captains like Gudas or Foligno. To go further back, they made tbose comments about Lowry.

A captain is someone whose contributions to a team the average fan will not see. A captain is someone who sets the culture and for teams like the ducks or the Blackhawks, the captain is a veteran leader who’s been through it, seen it and is there to guide the next generation. They bridge the gap so that someday, a Bedard or Mason MacTavish can wear the C with honour and continue to do so.

Gudas is a great choice. Has the backs of his teammates. Isn't afraid to get messy. Leads by example. Good captains don't have to be choir boys.

I never said he hurt someone's feelings.
You can pretend that hockey doesn't have all these generally accepted norms if you want (shaking hands after playoff series, don't shoot the puck in the net after a whistle), it's still revealing of his character, or lack thereof.
