So how good would the players have to be to run Ruff's system properly? Do you see the NYI running it well for example? I'm sure Lou would love to have nobody in the slot. NJ has as much talent as many teams in the middle of the league. There is seemingly more to it than that. Lack of accountability maybe but just blaming the players is just oversimplified.

Fair point. But the issue is there have been times in the past when this team functioned as a unit - Boston, against the Caps and especially in the Blues win last year - only to revert to the individual stuff and carelessness that led to losses.

I just wish the guys doing things to win games were rewarded with more ice time; rather than allowing the so-called skill guys to continue doing only the things they feel like doing.

...and if it doesn't...lucky for us Blackwood is gonna turn in his first truly heroic goaltending performance in years to bail them out...

...screw it, both will happen. Blackwood gets the shutout and Devils win 6-0. Hughes and Bratt each with 4 points and Holtz with the hat trick. This becomes the turning point of the season, Devils go on to win 7 consecutive games and finish the season 30 points better than last year. Hughes with 100 points, Bratt with 90, Shara hits 40 goals, Holtz rookie of the year. Nemec gets called up and puts up 15 points in 9 games. Bratt signs an 8 year extension in January.

So made it to the arena. Last time here five years ago. Came straight from the office in a collared shirt and a jacket (not a suit tho). Mistake #1. Didnt leave my backpack at the office, had to pay $10 for a locker. Mistake #2. Took really cheap seats, am sitting next to a bunch of frat boys. Not specifically a mistake.

Well, next time ill have a jersey on me and ill leave my backpack at home.
