Exactly. His system does help goalie stats and hurt production on offense. Interestingly, he publicly admitted they changed their system and now play with much more aggressive gaps and look to attack in transition more, which over the long run will give up more high danger chances.

Gibson did have some down years but part of that was our defense was horrendous and gave up breakaways and 2v1s constantly, also partly that he got frustrated l. He didn’t just forget how to play goalie and then remember again.

Some down years? It’s been five straight years traversing two coaches. 😝

Yeah, they were horrendous during those years. If you watched a lot of the games you would understand how bad they were defensively. Regardless, the Ducks whole team is coming around and I highly doubt he is on the trade block unless he has a great year and they can get very good value for him at the deadline.

Otherwise, good luck to you guys finding a new goalie.

Good luck with your 6.4 million dollar back up. Oof.

NHL players and execs voted him top 15 in the league last year, in the midst of his worst season ever. But by all means you chart enthusiasts can keep patting yourselves on the back and telling yourselves you know better then those in the league. Actually quite content to continue having one of the very best tandems in the NHL if there isn't an offer that will help improve the Ducks fortunes at any point. Until we can put a better team in front of Dostal, I don't want to see him thrown to the wolves like Gibson has been, so that you stat watchers can start telling us how bad he is too.
