What you see here is the difference between a team like the Jets and a team like the Abominable Snowmen (Avs) or Veggie Cakes (Vegas). Those teams set up shop on the hapless Jets when they want to score and you can see total domination and you know its a matter of time before they score at will and always win the games. Jets on the other hand are always the team that you know is gonna cave for the easy goal, even by the worst in the league...

Unfortunately, by the end of this year its going to be games like this and the last one against the Avs that put this team in 4th or maybe even 5th place in the division. If they make the playoffs at all, they'll squeak in to the playoffs and the AVs will take care of them in 4. They have a good system but weak players who can't get it done under pressure. You need to spend lots of $$$$$$$$$ AND be in a favorable market to win in this league now.
Unbelievable........

27-11-2 , i wouldn't say that record says typical of the Jets to lose i would say the opposite actually. It's a rare off night by Helly or we win in regulation.

we were 17-3 in our first 20. In our second 20 we went 10-8-2. Our current win/loss record is great, but I think it's a big mistake to pretend the first 20 games is more representative of this team than the last 20. I'd expect the remainder of the season to be more like the last 20 for sure. However, we aren't missing the playoffs. That would take a collapse the likes of which I don't think even the Jerts are capable of (although as I type that I have a vision in my head of the entire team standing up and in unison yelling "hold our beers!") How far we go in the post season is the big question.

Attending the game was fun. Bummer we couldn't pull off the win of course. To be honest though, I can get by very nicely with watching the games on TV.

Didnt like our game. Exits and passes were sloppy all night. Tons of shitty passes and giveaways. Helle was smelly. These are the games against bottom feeders you need to win. Minnesota/Dallas/Colorado are not going away. Disappointing outcome.

You missed the same obscure rule I did

When the attacking team knocks the net off, play isn't blown dead until they regain possession of the puck (apparently)

The reason that's a shit rule is because there's also a rule that says you can't score when the net's off its mooring...

So imagine that play develops and it's not blown dead. The ducks player somehow makes a pass that hits his own guy and it deflects through where the net *should* have been... no goal?

Anyway, I've never sen that. I would have loved to see helle "accidently" knock his net off on that 2-1 like Gibson did though
Players can put the net back in place.

Look in the mirror, pal. There's a lot of projection going on. The game before, I called him Vezinabuyck because he played great. Last night, he played like horseshit. I called it as I saw it. He was the biggest reason we lost.

If you can't handle me criticizing him after he sucks just put me on ignore instead of derailing a thread. I still find it amazing that the admins allow this horseshit to go on. You didn't say that, "I thought he played great." You didn't disagree with me. You simply went off on this ridiculous tangent, how I hate the guy. It's absolute trash and makes this forum so difficult to navigate and read.
You have a long history of criticizing Helle every bad game he plays, we've all been on this board and seen it. No need to pretend it's not true. The amount of mocking you have done of his play over the years is comical, you expect him to be perfect.

Both Heinola and Perfetti, two of HFs overhyped youngins have been complete non factors offensively.
What does it say that Stanley is showing more offense than Heinola, which is supposed to he Heinola's forte. Sad.
Arnie always talks about good offense comes from good defense and Heinola has never shown to play any defense at all. Heinola is far too weak.

This isn’t the AHL. Some people like to think it’s the same thing but it’s not. In the AHL you can have a small but high level toolbox and be very successful. In the NHL you need to be well rounded.

I was hoping to give Heinola more time to see if he can figure it out. But I just don’t see them having a path to be a successful defenseman in the NHL. I don’t see the needed strength or the supposed mega mind he is supposed to have. I see him as the #10 defenseman in the organization.

Jets need to solve their 2nd "scoring" line. Namestnikov is a bad fit and his lack of offensive instincts and skill are showing. Ehlers and Perfetti could use a bigger and faster and more talented linemates. They absolutely need more secondary scoring from that line.

Stanley was okay for most of the game but then misses the puck and it ends up in a late tying goal. Jets really need Samberg back.
I just don't know why people hold Stanley to some incredible standard.

Samberg misses pucks, too.

That Pionk Stanley pairing was good all game - there were no issues there.

The real problem is our 2nd line generates nothing most games, let's fix that.

In the third period they put Lowry between Ehlers and Perfetti and the line created a lot and had great zone time. I wonder if you see that again next game? Lowry is essentially the 2c and he adds size and has underrated offensive ability.

Ehler was out with Lowry and Perfetti, both of whom are good defensively.

Everything was good until they had possession through the neutral zone and upon entry Ehlers threw a wild cross ice pass at the blue line that turned the puck over instead of getting it deep.
I guess that really depends if the 3rd line can be effective without Lowry. I think we are seeing how we miss Appleton (never thought I'd say that).

If the third line, say with Nino, Names, and AI can suppress and get some cycle time in their minutes you can entertain the notion of Lowry centering the second line, but ideally this team's success has been derived mostly from lines 1 and 3 and Hellebuyck.

I'd call Chibrikov back up, move Perfetti to the middle and let those 3 have a whirl for like 10 games, see if they can get anything going. Chibrikov despite not being the biggest has grit to his game and is not at all afraid to attack the net.

Line 2 are three guys that are not at all in sync. Vladdy def needs to get bumped down and they need to try Lowry/Kupari/Gus for a bit. 91/27/9 can't complete passes to each other, doing 3 different things and it looks like there is zero plan. Perfetti has been playing fine to me - his board work and forecheck are light years from where it was last year but he isn't creating anything with his linemates. Ehlers is still doing his own thing and would be frustrating as hell to play with. Vladdy is a guy that can bump up for 20 games but he can't be a 2C for an 82 game season. I don't know why they don't sit him and let him heal, playing him with 2 of your top 6 offensive players and basically killing the line seems egregious to me.

These are the hottest of hot garbage.

In my mind the game was pretty even, and it could have gone either way. Obviously the Ducks are playing a lot better over the past few weeks. If Helle were more like Helle and Gibson was more like first period Gibson we would have won, but other than that, the Ducks played a fine game and the Jets definitely did not play to their potential.

Good news is, the Jets have a few 2 game breaks in between games and are at home for a good while so that means some real practices and working on some of the stuff they've gotten away from doing over the past few weeks.

I haven't time to read the PGT or watch the highlight packages but I understand that we gave up a 2 goal lead to the Ducks and lost in overtime. And penalties not called were a major factor. But we came out of it with a point. And we're still running at the top of the pack. And tomorrow night is another game.

Tomorrow night might be when I make it home, looking at the Simcoe forecasts today, Heavy snow and 400 closed sounds like I'm in for a long day without the ride to Barrie I was promised. There's worse places to be snowed in than Pearson I suppose. Maybe Siberia?

It makes one wonder if pionk isn’t getting the love he deserves as he has looked good with all his partners.

Perfetti is a problem in the top 6. 27/40 games he has ZERO POINTS. Sorry, that’s not good enough.

I like that thinking, but we either need to move Nino up or maybe bring up a player like Lambert that has more speed.
Ehlers and Lambert would be a brutal on a line. Both perimeter players. No one will be in the middle of the ice. I also think that’s part of the problem of having Perfetti and Ehlers together. I think Chib would be better and a bigger centre to push the defense back for Ehlers.
