Simmonds' name is tossed into every single thread, I would like to see what it would take to get Duchene to Philly without including him. I'm not opposed to seeing two offers though, one with and one without Simmonds.

I honestly would not even be all that interested in Simmons if we trade Duchene.
Couturier would be more interesting.

But I would probably want Provorov + something else for him.

Basically something similar to the Johansen trade.

If we trade a high level talent like Duchene, we need to get high level talent in return.

Flyers have a lot of great pieces but trading Duchene in a package deal really does not help us right now.

You do it if you can get a (potential) #1 D or a deal that is too good to refuse but aside from that I don't think that trading Duchene for anything close to fair value is a good idea for the Avs right now.

Maybe in a year or two when Jost has arrived and Rantanen and Mac matured a bit but not now.

And why would Philly want Duchene in the first place?

The flyers apparently had a scout at the game the other night and the flyers board was talking a little bit. I wanted to know his trade value and what the Flyers could look like with a center core of Giroux, Duchene, and Couturier could look like.

Why would COL even want to trade Duchene. He is one of the few bright spots on the team lol.

Philly's top 6 is producing. We still don't have a legit top pairing a Dman. Trading anything away for an expensive forward won't happen.

Duchene would be a luxury. Our D Prospects/Gostisbehere (im assuming one would need to be included) are not. Any deal that Colorado would accept would make the team worse.

So the Avs have been disappointing for 2 1/2 seasons but they should trade the guy that's actually lived up to his status and performed exceptionally well?

I'm not saying it should be done, I don't think it should be done. I have not caught any Avs games this year so I don't know what Duchene's value is. All I was trying to see was what realistic pieces it would take.

You guys would be surprised to hear what the Avs board/media says. Don't be surprised if Duchene is traded in the next year or so. I'm not going to get into it here but yeah basically it does sound crazy.

Obviously. Who wants a 25 year old C capable of scoring at a PPG when you could have a 28 year old 60pt winger.

Simmonds brings a dimension Duchene will never have on a contending team. I'd pick Simmonds on my team, well ahead of Duchene, if I wanted to compete. You build championship teams with guys like Simmonds. Keep Duchene, I'm sure Philly doesn't mind.

If you build championship teams with guys like Simmonds, how come the Flyers only have 2 first round exits to show for his time as a Flyer?

I mean maybe Simmonds was superb and everyone else was bad? What's that? He only had 2 assists in 6 games during the 1st round exit last year you say? Weird. That doesn't fit your narrative at all.

Yeah, no one wins anything with Duchene on their team. Not sure why he keeps getting picked to Team Canada, when they could have Simmonds.

So, what do you guys have to show? Philly is only missing a good goaltender. They'd take you guys out to dinner, every night of the week. Every team wishes for a guy like Simmonds.

sadly the flyers were in a slight rebuild for the majority of his time in philly so far, and he was a monster in 2012 against the pens... they went to the second round that year.. also he was a beast against the rangers in 2014 he had a hat trick in game 6. last year the flyers were so outmatched it didn't matter honestly. so you're kinda wrong

Uhh you do realize that the Avs beat the Flyers 4-0 last year and lost 2-4 during their 2 games against them right?

Avs have a winning record against the Flyers as well at 16-7-6 in 29 gp.

So what were you saying?

Over the last 3 years, the Flyers are 3-2-1 against the Avs. Not really as dominant as you seem to believe.

And, we have Landeskog. I wonder how many teams would take Simmonds if they could have Landeskog.

So if the Flyers had easier competition they'd have won? Wow. Stop the presses.

Also...Duchene had 3 points in 2 games the last time Avs were in the playoffs and he was coming back from a serious injury.

Simmonds is a complimentary winger. Duchene is a 1st line center. He's younger and more valuable.

Wow, you have Landeskog? Why are you guys not perennial Stanley Cup contenders?

You build hockey teams around would-be stars but you need guys like Simmonds to get it done, period. You're in the basement, you realize that?
