Rumor: Dubas has told other teams "everyone is available, except 87."”

As a Canuck fan. Letang coming and winning a cup for us would be special and a great story. Especially considering Luc(RIp)

Unfortunately we aren't winning the cup anytime soon and he is 37

-2.5M- Alex Nedeljkovic

- 10M - Erik Karlsson
- 2.5M - Cody Glass
- 2M- Noel Acciari
- 4.5M - Ryan Graves
- 4.5M - Michael Bunting

Total: $34.8M

Ugly retool work by Dubas.
It looks uglier when Sullivan coaches 99% of this roster into the ground.

JR wanted to get rid of Letang on the Pens. He sure as hell wouldn't let Allvin trade for him at his current state of being awful.

Pettersson would be who they'd target.

In any case, I'd definitely trade Sid as a Pens fan. I'm sick of seeing Geno get f***ed over to help Sid, he's been absolute shit defensively for two seasons now and this year he's one of the worst in that regard. Legend or not, if he doesn't want to speak up for this shit show of a coach needing to be gone, then he can go f*** off to another team.

I would think the main reason sid wants to remain in Pittsburgh is personal reasons tbh. He has a girlfriend, who likely doesn’t want to move. Sid has set roots, made friends, knows the Pittsburgh area, where to shop, where to eat, you think he wants to go to a new city and relearn the area, hell no.

It's also very rare in the modern age for players to stay with only one team over the course of a long career. That in and of itself is an accomplishment that he seems to be striving towards.

Scotty Bowman would get the same results.
That's what people in PIT are missing. Not that I like Sully, I don't . However our core has aged out and with the constant mortgaging of the future the cupboard was nearly empty. NO COACH could fix this. It'll take quite some time to dig out of this.

No chance the Canadiens acquire Letang. His contract runs until 2028 when he's 41-years old.
IIRC, Letang’s contract is different in that if he retires early the cap will be cleared. I can’t remember the specific clause, but I remember reading about it. I highly doubt Letang plays much longer, let alone to 41.

It's been said repeatedly that Sid wants to play for one team and one team only. That's a goal for him, he feels that is important. He goes nowhere.

I don’t get why this is so hard for people to get

Because it easy to say that when the Penguins were a playoff team, or at least contending for one. Now that they are a bottom 2 or 3 team, we will see if his tune changes, especially if they are one again next season.

Also, because it sounds so much better than saying "yeah, I'd be interested in bolting one day".

He signed it after he turned 35 and the last 2 years it has signing bonuses of 1 million making it a 35+ contract.

If it didn't have the bonuses it would not be a 35+ classified contract.

Indeed. Cause what do we mean by "fix"? They are 28th and 2pts from 32nd. So let's for argument sake suggest that keeping Sullivan has this team finishing bottom 6. I 100% believe that if you fired Sullivan and brought in any other coach, that they would finish higher than that. But the reality is, with the age of the roster, I think they are capable, at best, of 15th OV or so. This isn't a Cup contender and I don't think Dubas intentionally built it to be. I do think they thought they'd be better but it is what it is.

This happens to all teams eventually.

Didn’t work out for him with Shanahan.
As he called his bluff.

I mean, Shanahan calling that bluff got Dubas a $35 million deal. Hard to say he didn't win that hand.

In the "no crap, Sherlock" category:

Penguins are allegedly going super hard after Jiricek, but I'm unsure of how they could pull it off.

Apparently the Jackets want a 1 for 1 trade, not a package. Wild are frontrunners from what the rumors say.

From Chris Johnston today:

Initially they had focused on trying to get another prospect like him, sort of a kind-for-kind type of deal but I think Columbus is shifting into a mode where they'll start to listen on draft-pick packages in exchange for Jiricek and that might help move things along on the trade front.

Sell Rust/Pettersson for a 1st+

Trade a 1st acquired + Pickering for Jiricek.

Would come down to whether there is interest league wide for Jiricek or not.

His lack of development and unstable playing situation has hurt his stock and expected value for a 6OA pick
