I don’t think they are supposed to be. Torts just has them working hard and they have won more than expected.
Yep this is the type of team that can beat you when you don't bring 100% to the game... it's not hard to lose to a team like the Flyers when they put hard work and effort out every night... you need to outwork AND outskill a team like that.

This is actually a game Brown can score in. Get something whacking around net. He is skating hard and setting up some nice plays . Just needs a goal desperately
Brown hasn't scored in his last 45 NHL games... at a certain point it's no longer bad luck... he's just lost all ability to actually finish... which happens to some players.

McLeod looked like he lost his ability to finish too.

And then he got an empty net goal and some confidence.

So why did the oilers jump on a plane right after the ducks game and spend new years in the air? They couldn't have had a local party and traveled the next day?

Oilers were controlling play and shutting down the flyers most of the period. Their chances came off broken plays for the most part, which there isn't much you can do about.

As long as they keep up the pace oilers should take this. Be nice to get one quick in the second.

Why are they talking about Bob Stauffer in the intermission. Sportsnet gets MacT for their panel and then don't use him for actual intelligent analysis.

Id rather they not be having some huge new years party when they're outside the playoffs right now.

That McDavid penalty was hot garbage; glad he went up to ref after to give it to him
Ref wont like that. McDavid will probably get another this game.

Maybe... but Brown is 29... not 24 and he's coming off injuries. It's very possible he's just not an NHL player any longer.

If Gagner was healthy... there's just no way Brown should be in the lineup.

As it is... I'd much rather have Lavoie in the lineup getting some minutes over Brown doing zip out there.

Lavoie "might score" and the Oilers can find out what we have with that young player... they already can clearly see what they have with Brown.

Yeah maybe from an optics thing, but I wouldn't blame them for participating in standard holiday festivities.
