News Article: Drury signs multi-year extension

You can likely do the same exercise for every GM in the league that's been around for at least a few years and get almost the same result.
Most GM's are "mixed bags." Totally. That's basically my point, and I didn't think it was particularly daring.

Other GM's have been better at showing a direction for their teams. That's an area where I think Drury is different from the pack. Now he has a chance (whether we like it or not) to put his stamp on this team after arguably spinning his wheels for a few years.

If he shows faith in the pipeline and empowers the youth, then I'll be pretty happy overall.

He did it with Kravtsov when Kravtsov exercised his European Assignment Clause to go back to Russia. I don't know what he did do or didn't do with anyone else. I was just answering a question.
I know.. I'm saying he should have done that with the vets

I'm sure Drury will be fine. Sather also was given a lifetime job where he should have been fired early on. And look how well that went?

Started in 2000, retired in 2024. 0 Championships...

If he really wants to put his stamp on, then he should at least join the upcoming coaching staff as well .

If you were the owner and said, "I can't give you yet another coach to last a year and a half. You have to be on the next coaching staff. You're coaching to keep your GM position," I could totally get behind that! All this talk about "accountability," means this would be a power move. Will never happen, but it's a fun thought!

Ya and he should make the ecf or even just second round in all 3 remaining years or he's out.get Jeff boom/ leetch and messier on the staff as well.. Even bigger power move lol at worst you will get good ratings.

That is the way I'm choosing to look at it. Instead of a lame duck GM afraid to make moves Dolan basically just threw him the keys and said go for it. I will not be shocked if we see some big changes.
Well now we have to wait and see what he can do to fix the mess of the past season . He has the owner 's confidence . Everybody knows it starts with Kreider/Zibs-Bread and what he does or gets for them and then the defense and the OA team like TEAM factor . We have to start playing for one another on every shift . Adding the youth like Cuylle-Othmann-Rempe helps . I doubt things get fixed in one year.....defer the 2025 pick.
