Why did they want them traded? Really weird
Several reasons.

Walker was poor in his last 2 seasons, very ordinary at best. Injury absolutely played a part in that. Durzi was a giveaway specialist that had a habit of causing back breaking goals. Throw in the fact they were ‘blocking’ Clarke and Spence along with salary cap pressures and they needed to be moved.

Pretty much everybody wanted Walker gone, although there was more of a split with Durzi. Both played far better last season than they did with the Kings. Character wise nobody had a problem with either and Durzi’s ‘jam’ was appreciated.

I think that covers it. For the record I wanted both gone and stand by that being the right decision. Whether we got value for Durzi is debatable but at the time the trade for Walker was fair IMO.

The joke is that not even two full seasons ago their RHD depth was Doughty, Roy, Durzi, Faber, Spence, Clarke, Grans and now with Doughty out it's Spence-Clarke-Burroughs-move an LHD over.

Another Rob Blake masterclass.

Bergevin seems to be rubbing off on Blake. Bergevin is a master at destroying D depth. He did the exact same thing to the left side of Habs D in the summer of 2017 by snobbing lifer Andrei Markov, signing Alzner instead, and trading Sergachev for local boy hero Drouin.

The Dubois trade had all the earmarks of a Bergevin trade.

Ouch. Sometimes I wonder if it's at all worth it for starters to partake in preseason games.

The NFL seems to be at the point where the stars never play. It might be the way to go.
Believe NHL requires like 8 veteran players to take the ice in preseason games.

So some guys will always get exposed.
