Rumor: Dreger: Belief that Mason McTavish is going to be traded

Certainly a good possibility if available. But that seems like a slight downgrade for Ottawa. If the ducks still like Yakemchuk it could be a win-win for both teams. But the ducks would need to be taking the long view and be a little patient while he develops.

Probably would be fair, but after the season McTavish just had, doubt he returns Yakemchuk.
Agreed it only makes sense if Ottawa still values him highly. There is a lot to like about mctavish though. I really would prefer the ducks not trade him but if they do it has to be for a quality piece. Yakemchuk would fill a huge hole for Anaheim.

I know the rumour is that they really liked him at the draft, but I don't know if he's the best fit.

Yeah he's big and is a RHD, but he's yet another D who will need a lot of PP time to succeed, and the Ducks are already loaded with promising young OFD.

he may not be but his physicality and shot would be unique among the existing D and he’s a RS which is a huge need. I think the ducks would only be looking at him, Pinto, or Batherson. Maybe the 9OA but that seems unlikely. Going to be interesting.

Not a Ducks fan, but is it crazy to think they might be interested in Greig/Zetterlund (replacement top 9 forward) + additional assets?

Don't know how many people expected Verbeek to accept Poehling + picks for Zegras.

Maybe but all the upside in that scenario goes to Ottawa. If McTavish becomes the 70-80 point 2C he looked to be just a year ago then the trade is yet another loss for Verbeek. I think they have to make this trade count.

That's true. I wouldn't trade him if I were in Verbeek's shoes.

I think if McTavish goes to Ottawa it'll be to play LW.

Based on his defensive stats, feel like that might be the better spot for him than at C.

When did he ever look like a 70-80 point guy? I've never seen that from him. His skating & effort has always been questionable.
