This make sense. Considering that the price for Clowe just last year was a prospect and a 1st, plus a roster player (though Demers was involved as well).

All these fans that are saying Clowe is an awful player and only worth a 7th will change their tune when their GM trades for Clowe. Then all of a sudden Clowe will be an awesome player with heart/grit who will help their team to a cup.

While I am of the mind that DW should and will wait this out to see how far he can max out value and that he won't budge if he doesn't get what he wants.....this pretty much sums it up in a nutshell.

That's a pipe dream. If DW can get a first by itself I'd give him a pat on the back.

You will be surprised. I know this is HF and it's kinda blasphemy to say a 1st isn't all THAT valuable but if you consider it'll likely be a bottom 5 pick a.k.a 25-30 you realize it's more like a high 2nd and the (potential) conditional 2nd would equate more to a high 3rd.

So I kinda look at it like a good prospect (Koko), a high 2nd, and a conditional high 3rd.

That is full value no doubt, but a 1st alone being enough, or even Koko alone being enough is laughable IMO, if you consider the current market, and previous precedent i.e. Morrow trade and even Gaustad from a year ago (he got a 1st)... and IMO Clowe has a decent amount more value than Gaustad.

If Boston does pull the trigger on Iggy, all we can hope is for Clowe to score tonight. Then MTL or TOR will hopefully be more willing to pay DW's price.

Side note: Didn't Clowe grow up a Habs fan? If so, I'm sure he'd be willing to waive his NTC.

Clowe will be the 2nd place prize... Hopefully Murray can do some selling in Pitt.

I think the team willing to bid the highest is going after Iginla first, not Clowe.

1st, 2nd and Prospect is probably what Iginla will get.

Then the team that losses out on the Iginla sweepstakes will go after Clowe with the offer that lost out on Iginla in the first place. More likely a 1st/Prospect.
