Dreaded Czech U18 Thread

Germany has our number. U20 too. You guys played great.

For us.. cihar is disappointing so far. Our D is not playing well. As a group.. I like the forwards a lot. Mrtka has been on a for a few key goals against now too.
Mrtka was straight up terrible yesterday. Slow, clunky, making stupid passes and mistakes. I kid you not there were times when he looked like a literall plastic training dummy just standing there and German players casually skating around him.

For a potential top10 pick, that was absolutely disgusting and borderline criminal performance from him yesterday lol

he wasn't great but he also went end to end against USA and is playing a lot. But yes.. not a great game. We look disorganized. Need to name the full roster and build on our mistakes. This team doesn't suck. Mrtka doesn't suck. They just need to gel a little. Swiss game will be key!

I'm not too worried to be honest. What I hate is that we had a very reasonable chance to avoid Canada, Sweden and USA in quarters. This may feed us to Canada.
So I'm the one who's worried a little bit.
A somewhat careless approach to thinking about success, in my humble opinion.. And I blame the coaches for that, because this is their concern and job.
And the fact that we are doing everything we can to be unsuccessful again, even though we had a really good chance of succeeding this year thanks to the draw... is just plain stupid.

Agreed completely. Coaches just cant mentally prepare players for the tourney or I dont have any other explanation, why the team full of great players, and seriously great players, and a team who dominated Hlinka and played good in all friendly games, suddenly looks like they were promoted from lower division this year.

We just cant, I am sorry but I stand by it, we just cant lose to Germany with this lineup. I am sorry.

And I dont believe this team one bit. Because its the same old shit like the last two tournaments all over again. And we all know how it ends.

I'm afraid you're right. We'll be happy to make the quarterfinals. And beating the Swiss won't be easy. Not with this kind of commitment, not with this kind of mental attitude.

I can't defend the results at all. But, it is a good squad. And a lot of them should get drafted. I imagine the coach is fired if it keeps up like this.lol I really do enjoy watching the forwards fly around! The D is disorganized. Probably on the coaches. I think losing early isn't a bad thing. Now they are pissed off and have a day to get ready for the Swiss. Then another day off to get ready for Sweden.

My other concern was that I felt like the forwards all defer to Benak. I'd like to see a second line emerge and dominating a bit. Looking at you Cihar's line!

They are very good players, and on paper this team should go for a medal. But as goodman says, the level of commitment and the uncarefullness and mental unstability with which we played last game was alarming

Those kind of things are hard to overcome and change in such a short tourneys I am afraid.

I don't like how most forwards play either. It's nowhere near the same level as at HGC. For example, Pavlík is completely invisible.
And Katolický is the player with the best volley shot and he obviously won't get on the power play. I agree with Benak here, everyone is waiting for what he'll come up with and that's not good at all.
The main problem is, of course, the players' mental attitude. It's such a detail, but exactly as Pazucha mentioned, they didn't even celebrate after the goal, as if they were sure they would win the match without a problem. And yet it was obvious that this was not the case.
And here we can recall Čermák's words that they are going to win all the matches. Whenever someone has announced these strong words in advance, it has ended in disaster. Or maybe our game corresponds to what Čermák said? Sometimes it's just better to come with humility, or just shut up..
So far it just looks like the coach hasn't done his job. Again.

I liked Petr as a coach and you said he was shit. You were right.
I don't mind Cermak and you don't like him. I'm assuming you are correct again!

Thank god Kazakhs aren't here!

I'm not so sure about Čermák, but it's true that the difference between the HGC and the World Championship was brutal last year. And so far it looks like it's heading towards the same result this year.
I understand that many of his players went abroad and couldn't make the transition. There was even an article published last year where Čermák described that some players had up to thirty percent worse performance at the World Championship than at the beginning of the season. But the criticisms I wrote cannot be attributed to this phenomenon, even if it were true this year (which is indeed possible). Just to review last year, he should have been careful and not made his players feel like they were going to win the entire championship.
And I'm really worried that we might not even beat the Swiss (without seeing them play. I'm just basing it on how we play).

Swiss conceived 20 goals in the first two games .. yet I am almost certain we will struggle with them and that winning that game will not be easy at all

I really fear the relegation round this year, its absolutely mindblowing and crazy to even say it when we have such a lineup. But its a reality. Players are just not there with their heads, and thats a huge issue

I say bronze. No joke.

But if the Swiss shut us out I will piss my pants laughing.lol

I think it is a perfect summary of us at the U18's.lol We can be relegated, we can medal. This tournament is a disaster for us.lol

Sort of. I think it will be like that and it will be a fight until the last moment. When the players are mentally set up like in the match against the Germans, no match can be easy for us. It's a completely simple equation and I think a coach like Rulík would explain it to them very quickly. Unfortunately, as it looks like, Čermák is not Rulík.
