We all just saw what happens when a team built around McDavid + Draisaitl runs into a team built around a Selke winner.
The results? Barkov > Mc + Drai
There are valid reasons for choosing Bergeron over Drai.
I mean they took it to 7 games and lost by 1 goal? I don’t see how that’s a knock against Edmonton considering their goaltending, defense, and secondary scoring being inconsistent at best.
Barkov also 5 points in 7 games and was a -1 on the series. He actually only had 1 goal and was a -5 the last 4 games of the series. He couldn’t shut down McDavid who basically was the only one to consistently show up in that series and had 11 points.
Barkov was nothing special against Edmonton and all the smythe talk was going to Bob, especially early in the series.
Who do you want more in a game 7 third period defending a one goal lead, not many guys ahead of Bergeron and when the offense dies like it did for Drai what more does he offer
what about when it’s Game 7 and you are down and need more offense? Can Bergeron deliver?
Big games in the playoffs...he disappears, check out those stats.
Is Bergeron really much better overall in big games? He has had his moments but he also had plenty where he didn’t perform well.
