Some folks would rather have Skinner to cheer for than a Cup, sad but true.
GOLD Jerry!

Exactly.

The broadcast is basically creating Skinner fictions night after night. They treated this performance like he's a superstar. Even fabricating the play by play. Skinner was credited in the telecast multiple times for making a save on a breakaway that beat him clean hittinng the post. The thing is this isn't isolated, its a constant. Every telecast propping up Skinner as if he's Atlas holding up the globe instead of the Oilers just absolutely dominating games and goaltending being the only reason Oilers didn't win this in a landslide.

This wouldn't matter except I think the org as well is buying this Skinner the Saviour baloney. Probably give him 5M in next contract just to be below average.

Being a fan is wanting the Cup. Some of us just don't think Skinner is good enough to win a Cup with.

"But...but he got them to game 7". Ya and all it took was our superstars putting up videogame offensive numbers that haven't been seen since the 80's. It's hard to get blood from a stone and to ask more from our stars. I'd rather have at least a tandem guy to help Skinner out when he goes cold.

Draisaitl and McDavid's numbers weren't anything spectacular in rounds 3 and 4 last year though. They definitely weren't "video game numbers". Skinner's were though. That's why some of us think he is good enough to take us to the cup. It was the forwards that let the team down late in the playoffs last season, not Skinner. If our offence shows up in games 1, 2 or 7 we are Stanley Cup champions.

Either way the constant attacks on Skinner are so tiring. When he plays bad his stats are posted ad nauseam. When he has great stats he gets attacked because he didn't look good enough (like he could ever look good enough to some of these posters). He's been putting up great numbers for 6 weeks now and people still refuse to give him any credit. Normal fans would just enjoy it.

no, whats sickening the hypocrisy of fans. When McDrai were racking up PP points it was "PP merchants" " cheap" "not real point" and now the golden child Mack is scoring all his point on an EN we hear "its part of the game" as if PP points aren't.
Hypocrisy of the mains*

We all know those dumbasses just wanna shit on the Oil any which way they can. If it’s discount PP points or crediting EN points.

These haters were wrong all the way Game 7 last year. They not even on these hockey forums to talk real hockey. f*** em.

Not sure who you're responding to but I can guess. Man, it wasn't even close. Oilers had so many fantastic chances. Ducks hardly had any and one of the breakaways was Harkens who never scores and he still rang it off the post.

Just going by the eye test I’d guess the oilers had at least twice as many high danger scoring chances for than they did against. Anyone have the final tally?

I will....unlike most around, I know he's an average goalie and getting paid like one

you, for some reason, think he should be Hellybuyck...dude gave up 2 goals tonight...in a 3-2 league, that will be enough to win most nights
WE're playing one of the worst teams in the league who were playing a B2B with travel. The Ducks had hardly anything most of the game.

My favorite narrative is that him beating the Stars was no big deal because they weren’t “real contenders” or whatever.

I’m just asking you if you think .930 is better then .885

I think there's nuance because save percentage is a flawed metric that doesn't tell the whole story.

Higher is better generally - when comparing apples to apples but your can't just compare two goaltenders save percentage on the night because they aren't always apples to apples. Not all shots are created equally or carry the same percentage chance of scoring, and not all players have the same likelihood of scoring.

Again - we had twice as many scoring chances and twice as many high danger chances - and our players are generally more dangerous.

Notable time to bring up one of Taylor Hall's most memorable lines when Anderson was spending too much time around the young guys during the DOD and was chirping them...

"Ya, congrats Andy for scoring the 4th goal in an 8-3 win, 27 times in 1984."

I don't care who you are or what you think of Hall, that's funny lol
