GDT: Draft lottery

Let's make some discussion around this. I am hyped for the evening, yet, I think this needs to be laid out beforehand to set expectations in check...

According to Tankathon, there is a 12.1% chance of us picking #1. That means, there is a

87.9% chance that we will NOT pick #1
12.5% combined chance that either LA or SJ will pick #1 (higher chance than us)

However, we cannot fall lower than #4. And there is about a 1 in 4 (23.8%) chance we will remain in top 2.

As a Latvian fan my heart was pulled out of my chest already yesterday by the Germans, so I am ready for tonight. I think the chances of us winning is lower than some people realize so good to know what to expect. But anyway, I am hyped for the lottery. NHL could do a better job at promoting this, there is a chance to win for all non-playoff teams so fans should pay attention.

Someone on the Rangers forum posted a simulation with the Rangers winning 1OA and the Ducks at 2nd, and everyone else dropping a spot except for the Ducks of course. That would be the biggest middle finger to the NHL. Lol

I have no issues with Power and will love to pick him if they can, but this team needs scoring and Top 6 forwards badly, especially a potential 1c or 2c. But you still pick the BPA.

Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate this. Yes, I'm a teacher and trying to adapt it to the US system, a prep school teacher is probably the closest to the actual position I have. Still don't understand the reasoning (and think it is bullshit), but I was told there was no place for me in the school's teaching load. I had been there for three straight years already; 4.75 years in total since graduation and practical training. Most likely going to have to try and force myself into the position by use of a lawyer, as I have several arguments going for me as to why I made myself indispensable. We'll see how it goes, but the timing is most f***ed up, as school is going to close in four weeks for summer holidays and there are pretty much no more vacant positions to find as well as my wife being pregnant with our second child and due in early August.

They changed the rules so teams can only drop two spots now.
