NHL Draft lottery race - Bruins currently have 4th Pick

look back at past drafts, I was reviewing 2011....funny that the one bad pick in the top 10 or so was Larsson, and the best D was hamilton, but Jersey ended up getting him in the end anyways! Lot's of good picks in that draft but nobody that was elite overall.

RNH in Edmonton is such an interesting one, never panned out to be an elite guy as the number 1 pick, but 2 seasons ago he scored a whopping 104 points...and if you look at his overall career that one is a major major outlier.

hockey is so weird.

Hamilton also had his best season the same year (22-23)...was scoring just really up that year?
I consider Hamilton elite.

For me an interesting question is what happens if you stay at 4 post lottery and Miss and Hagens are gone and Matrone is there. I think it’s more interesting than the Schafer question because I think the team needs to take a forward regardless. The difference between Misa and Schafer is too narrow to not go forward. But if you project Martome as Brady Tkachuk, that’s interesting.

I have both Frondell and Desnoyers ahead of Martone, so Martone doesn't factor in much.

Another data point for ya. Mock draft starts around 14 minutes.

Just found these guys recently. They seem pretty fun and knowledgeable.

My choices order
1-Schaefer , can’t pass on him whatever you need
2-Misa best offensive player ( the one I want )
3-Frondell most sure pick

4-Desnoyers the most complete, sure nhl er
5-Hagens the higher risk
6-Martone, big strong
7-Eklund the most underrated
I like your list. For the Bruins, I would switch Desnoyers and Hagens as I think Hagens has the ability to create way more offense than Desnoyers and I think that’s what the Bruins should be trying to acquire from their pick.

I would be happy with really any of those players. I’ve gotten real greedy since we’ve been starting this tank from a playoff spot haha. Unfortunately, this seems just a down year for a tank because this draft, to me, is 3 guys then a bunch of the same level of player from 4-12.

I haven’t put the couple hours in yet where I think I know everything :sarcasm: but I have been watching Martone videos and would be pretty excited with him

Frondell & Desnoyers I’m very high on and they are centers

I’ll be excited with any of the consensus top 6

Hagens absolute ceiling is Phil Kessel and floor is Ryan Spooner. His peak will fall roughly between their highest production, so 65 point player.
I would personally take the over on peak points for each individual player in the top 6. I don’t know what history says but I feel I’d have a pretty darn good shot of 4 or more hitting the over.

Not to say you’re in left field. It may say more about my expectations being too high for the top 6/7 players.

For sure but look at the injury bear just had, that same injury changed the trajectory of karlssons career and practically ended pacioretty’s.

Do you really want to take that risk with your top pick in the draft? Everyone hates on McQueen Hell mcqueens back injury is safer considering it wasn’t something that required surgery just required time to heal and build up strength as it was due to his large growth spurts.
A fair point but with this medical stuff I don't have enough information to say one way or the other. I would just be guessing. I would, however, expect the team to do in depth medical related scouting on both Bear and McQueen and anybody later on that might have any medical issues. If there is an issue that they worry about then sure, scratch him off the list.
Makes me think of Eichel with Buffalo though. He had this back disc injury and wanted this new surgery and Buffalo wanted some older therapy surgery method and they fought over that and Eichel went to Vegas. At the time some in Buffalo thought he might be done or hobbled for the rest of his career but nope, surgery, recovery, Stanley Cup. So I leave the medical things to the team doctors. I have no idea.

To sum then, my picks are Desnoyers, Bear, McQueen unless there is a medical issue. I'm not going to be unhappy if they pick a guy like Hagens. A top 5 pick should be some sort of win no matter what. If Sweeney totally botches that he's worst GM in history.

The problem with Desnoyers is that he perhaps has the highest floor of the top center prospects, he also has the lowest ceiling. He won't be a bust, but he's not likely to become a number 1 center either.

I agree with others that the talent drops after 4. Schaefer, Misa, Frondell/Hagens.

That's fair as obviously I can't see the future if any of these players and I agree a couple will probably average 72-75 pts a year or roughly Dylan Larkin production.

Desnoyers has a lot of Bergeron in his description

In 33 seasons Bergeron & Krejci never hit 35 goals or 80 points in a season but they were both 1 C on great teams

Looks like he can drive a line though the way those 2 did

Frondell I feel the best about but it’s probably going to change with me

Depending on what shakes out and sticking around where we are at it’s Frondell Desnoyers Martone Hagens

I think I am lower on Hagens than most but wouldn’t be mad if they picked him.

If Misa drops no doubt you grab him.

Frondell is still my pick. Ceiling he would be Barkov with the shot accuracy and power of Pasta. Floor still seeing a second line scorer. That kids shot at 17 is already blowing by full adult goalies.

Wait...your top 3 is Desnoyers, Bear, then McQueen? For top 3 overall? And you're worried about Sweeney botching it? lol
